I think to heighten the tension and/or make the false impression of physical film distortions. The former is especially true during 0:22 when the upside down ship is shown. When I first saw this I got chills there and when the first harpoon is thrown at 1:10. Notice the silly Windows Movie Maker effects to simulate 40's era film projector "effects". Here's another video from the same guy. It has Beethoven in it :mmmhmm:...

This is possibly the best matching of unrelated film and film score. The music works perfectly with the visuals. However, here's the movie the soundtrack is from: Hellraiser
    1:10 = excellent part

    Thanks ;)

I have a piece you might like if you haven't already studied it: MacDowell's Fireside Tales. http://216.129.110.22/files/imglnks/...ell-Op61xt.pdf

I can now honestly say that my AP Microeconomics course is as easy for me as conducting Mahler 9 would be for someone who can't read music and doesn't know what an orchestra is. :smith:

OK so maybe around 10:30ish if that is all right with you.

I haven't studied Berg's concerto in depth (i.e. I don't have the sheetmusic for it and have not played it). I like the tonal scale he uses. One of my friends is studying it and I asked his opinion on it for you. Like me he enjoys the tonality of it. There is a certain feeling of "work" in it, like a piece where you really feel the effort that it took to create it. He says it can be a very expressive piece when played correctly; there's a lot of freedom in expression. This makes sense also given the time period during which the piece was written. For my friend Alban Berg's Violin Concerto was one of those concertos that he as a person always wanted to study.

For me, I have 2 concertos like that. Sibelius and Glazunov :swoon:
That emote is ridiculously silly, but it defines how much I like Glazunov and probably how much my friend likes the Berg Concerto.

(That was long. I'll be on steam around 10:45-11ish hopefully tonight)

When do you usually go to sleep?

OK so the Baroque concert went well, and I finally installed Steam on a computer that probably won't crash my router. I can't play any of my Steam games on a netbook, however, so I'll have to wait for my Dad to buy a new router sometime next month so I can go on servers. :smith: So we can have epic music chats :buddy:

Well this was Ben Zander conducting. Tomorrow I have a 10:30AM Baroque ensemble concert where I got partial solo in Brandenburg 4. I got 3rd movement and some other person got 1st and second. It is a nice piece.
