  1. Shostakovich
This was a student orchestra, so the performer of Tchaik's Variations was Jonah Ellsworth.

I wish I could use steam more. The problem lies in our crappy router. There is a piece of code somewhere on some machine in our house that makes something in the order of 3000 webconnections fast enough to crash the router. Steam's server list does this, as well as some other programs. We haven't isolated the cause yet. :saddowns: However, I could probably install Steam on my netbook and talk from there (and disconnect from the wi-fi if anything suspicious happens )
  2. Shostakovich
Last night I went to Jordan Hall in Boston and attended a concert with a program of Variations on a Rococco Theme and Mahler 9. It was :krad2:

    How have you been?
  3. Shostakovich
Hello again. Sensemaya by Silvestre Revueltas is awesome.

Here's some things to listen to if you have not already:
    Ysaye Danse Rustique
Kavakos seems cursed with crappy video quality for almost every one of his performances.
Playing fast doesn't usually equal virtuoso playing, but it certainly contributes to the :aaaaa: factor:
    Paganini No. 5

I'm assuming. I've never gone to this particular program. Last year was Bowdoin International Music Festival (which was totally awesome as well). I'll have to see. The age range is 14-18, but the program seems to be reasonably good. I'm looking forward for the Franck Symphony in d minor. I've played it once and I daresay I'd love to play it again.

Edit: Also, in around 25 minutes I'm leaving Philadelphia to return home, which means I won't be in this conversation for around 6-7 hours while my parents drive. Just so you know that I'll appear to be logged on but won't be able to respond until tonight.

By the way, the Conversation heading is awesome: Conversation Between The Maestro and Shostakovich

    Funny thing that...http://www.bu.edu/cfa/tanglewood/program/yao/
This is what I'm doing this summer.
  8. Shostakovich
It's strange, people know Shostakovich for his symphonies, but hardly anyone knows him for his Jazz Suites (except for the waltz in the second Suite). Here's the first mvt from the first Suite:
  9. mrfunkyland

  10. Shostakovich

    Edit: Accepted!
