I didn't think of those constitutional provisions. Definitely, this is not a "Republican Arrangement" unless they take the definition of an indirectly elected board very narrowly. Has the Equal Rights Protection clause ever been applied to something strictly political ? There's definitely a racial aspect considering Detroit's make up but would that hold?

It's unfortunate how there's such little criticism of this. I mean for all the talk of "big government" from Republicans, this is pretty much in that realm.

Is the board you mentioned to a city board or a state level body?

I didn't know they put EFMs in other cities- were those before Detroit or around the same time?

How are things going on over in Detroit with the city take over? You commented a good deal with the shoehorned work-to-right law, I'd be interested in seeing what you think about the state government's decision.
