Absolutely. In every instance that the Court has turned away a disparage of voting rights between two groups- primarily in a racial context- based on a guarantees clause argument, they've ran with it when brought by an equal protections clause argument. EPC is more responsible for the equalization of voting among groups than the guarantees clause.

Absolutely. But because it's local government no one cares except for locals. People are more willing to turn the other cheek because of the insignificance of the government and the necessity of getting the economy fixed. Luckily in late March two state congressmen filed a federal suite, so we'll see this head to the federal appeals court and potentially to the Supreme Court, where it most definitely will be struck down in violation of the guarantees clause or the equal protections clause.

State level. Local Emergency Financial Assistance Loan Board (ELB). The board is made of department directors appointed by Snyder.

It's unfortunate how there's such little criticism of this. I mean for all the talk of "big government" from Republicans, this is pretty much in that realm.

Is the board you mentioned to a city board or a state level body?
  5. [Seed Eater]
Before. There were EFMs in school districts and in other cities for periods as far back as the 80s or 90s, but when Snyder took office he changed the power and structure of the position with MI PA 4, giving them complete control over all economic and political decisions of a city and doing so unelected except through a board which is itself unelected. The first cities to be taken over by the new EFMs was Benton Harbor, then Flint, then Pontiac. Detroit is only the latest and only held out so long because of its political and economic clout. It's obvious that Detroiters don't want an EFM. They closed down the highway in protest for days when it went through. And good on em.

I'm actually out of touch with Detroit politics for the most part, but I've been avid anti-EFM and anti-Snyder since 2011. I can tell you Flint and Benton Harbor are doing no better under their EFM than they were before.

I think for me its just the fact that the people saying this stuff to me used to be great friends to me before I graduated high school. Yeah they had their flaws, but they never entered dumb territory like this.

    perfect

I like it. I got used to the Start Screen immediately, and I like all the little changes that make using 7 again a nuance
