On a tab where it may read something like:

The X's being the dampened or muted string?

Yeah i agree, the ukulele is a pretty sounding instrument...
When you say dampened notes is that as in muted or I'm not really sure what you mean, not that brilliant at theory aspect of music, i know the basics but thats about it.
Have you any videos on the internet, or youtube etc?
