Or they just don't bother to post because they see other people answering better than they could; ie rating those people agrees.
For instance, in a debate overlooked by a moderator and an audience, the audience never rallys up onto the stage to express specifically what their individual opinions are. They listen to what the debaters say, then boo or applaud and cheer depending on if they approve or not. Same goes for the rating system.

It's not a difficult concept to understand. Assuming that people just jump on a bandwagon because they disagree with you is probably the height of arrogance. So good job on that, I hope you are proud of your accomplishment.
