You won't really need one in your filter. If you have one on in your system it will kill all the benificial bacterias that you want. They're good if something get's out of hand and you just want to "nuke" your water and start clean. So if you do choose to have one be sure to keep it off unless you need it. I would get a refugium and good sump before a UV sterilizer.
