I noticed now that the effects aren't all gone. I turn the music down ingame, and then turn on my speakers to maximum, I hear some effects.
Solved it. Had my 2.1 speakers setup to 7.1 for some reason

I only hear the background music. No explosions and pew pews.. :(

I have windows 7, and SP1. Strange.
