but it does print nicely! i'm more of a slab serif person myself, at this point in time at least
Know Your Onions is a great introduction book to graphic design, no bumf, just nice to-the-point content. it's cheap too!
Type Matters should be your first stop for typography, it's a lovely...
do you guys want this thread closing? there seems to be some bad blood, but i can't say i know much about the situation, what's the general consensus?
Welcome to Planet Earth: If it won't make someone money, it's probably not going to happen.

sadly, developing nations are not big money makers for the rest of the world.
sod cocaine, you need pussy
can you not post a short description of what the company/whoever the logo is for do, and then what sort of things you had in mind for said logo? you don't have to openly describe your business plan,...
could we get a bit more information, a bit of a brief?
the Kanger Pro line is good, it's pretty popular around here and i haven't known of anyone have any problems with them. they're not too expensive and are good starters.
i have the pro tank mini...
well since photoshop's designed for raster and illustrator is designed for vector it's not really that surprising :v

i find the photoshop pen tool near unusable, if i need a shape...
also keyboard shortcuts will help speed you up considerably!
p is the Pen Tool (funnily enough)
+ is adding anchor points
- is minusing anchor points
shift + c is convert anchor point
looks far better in black imo
i think you'd be better just getting rid of it altogether. although it's a subtle noise, my reaction (which i'm sure is the same as most other people) was "where's that noise coming from? what is it,...
probably a combination of illustrator and photoshop - illustrator for the designs and photoshop for the mockups/visualisations
in the third they've dramatically reshaped her jaw, not only to fix what looks like an underbite but the whole way it curves up along the jawbone to the ear. and look at how far her mouth now is from...
it's still the plastic surgery that has made a massive change to their appearance, not the makeup, hair and lighting.
it happens. happened on this very forum i think?

makeup can't physically shrink your nose and reshape your jaw. they may have a little eyeliner, foundation and blush on, but...
vexel - a pixel based image that's been created in a vector style (i.e. simple shapes, limited colours usually)
vector - well, you know what that is
i think you've done a good job. like you said, there are a few small errors, but for the most part you've covered the shape well and it's obvious what it is. i gather english isn't your first...
If you really want to get into graphic design, you're going to need to be able to create vector shapes from scratch, I'd highly recommend doing it manually. Either by "tracing" over the image with...
true-ish, but you're still going to do better if you have at least moderate drawing skill opposed to none at all.
Out of interest, was this a decision you made yourself or did your school change their mind on what the brief was?
Nice one! I can't really tell from the photos (and being on phone) but there looks like a lot of colours there, did you go for regular offset in the end?
sorry to say, but i think you made the wrong choice here. your original logo could've done with a little finessing, especially regarding colours like SweetSwifter said, but the design you have now is...
although the crest could possibly be improved, if it's not something you're skilled at i think it looks fine as it is. but the fonts really need some work. the Informática is quite nice, but it...
i agree, and leaving such a small thing that could easily be changed is lazy. if you want to be serious about design you need to be a bit more of a perfectionist
No, that's just registering a business name and advertising, not running a profitable and successful business. Anyone can "start" a business, heck officially I am a company director and business...
it is. Pantone is spot, spot is not Pantone. there are several different colour systems that exist, Pantone is just by far the most prevelant in europe and the US. a spot colour is just a...
i prefer the thicker one still, but you should maybe start looking at line thickness alternatives depending on the final size of your logo i.e. if it's going to be 25x25mm on a business card, but...
using 6 pantone swatches for colours that could be very reasonably produced in CMYK is dumb, wasteful and no designer/printer/creative in their right mind would ever do it.
there's like, 6 different swatches on there. that's not how you pantone
i prefer the first of the two, gradients are difficult to get right without it seeming like a gimmick to add a bit more finesse to a logo. it's still nice but imo it cheapens the design, stick with...
no, they should. everyone should be an awful lot more informed about what we're eating and where it comes from. passing it off as "it's just a cow" is just ignorance.
serious as in it thinks it's a serious paper, whereas the sunday sport knows outright that it's a complete joke and plays along with it.
so is everyone. i think we can all agree that if the plane is found with survivors it will be some of the best news we've heard in a long time, but realistically it really doesn't look likely. and...
exactly. and since we have the internet readily available at our fingertips it's probably best for people not to post outdated (since disproven) findings
can we have some source with that?
google and bbc throws back nothing than objects that might have been doors/rafts being discounted as such, 12+ hours ago

Can we not post irrelevant-to-this-case flight recordings please
You just need to enter media and /media in the brackets instead of what you had, and make sure you take the s out of https:// if that's how you've copied it.
I would have PMed you but you have it...
nice setup, but how is it remotely an iMac? not a single part is made by apple and you're not running OSX.
"towerless pc" would be a better name for it. still, nice job.
5th March 2014
well that's generally how i've found menu sub wording to work
4th March 2014
i guess it could look better with the chef bit centred though
fixed up the local pubs new food menu. generic as heck but a tad better than generic word + word art
