Android 4.4.1 for the Nexus 4 brings transparent lockscreens bars! Thank you based Google!
edit: if you installed the transparent bars mod on your N4, the OP in this thread has stock...
4.4.1 rolling out for Nexus 5 starting today.
I hope others follow by the end of the week :C
I could never get used to Apex or Nova (or any other third party launcher for that matter) because both either had features that I couldn't turn off and pissed me off, or didn't have basic launcher...
GEL master race! That's all I really need in a launcher (and more, since there's the left-sided Now screen).
Nothing is stopping you since he does have a donation fund started :v:
Just donate the remaining money so he can get a Nexus 5 and bathe in a combination of #BEBEBE and #HOLOYOLO.
Can someone kill the HD2 already? That thing has KitKat running on it, that's insane.
the LG Optimus 2X (and it's american version) were fucking nightmare phones, but that lawsuit is hilarious and impressive at the same time.
code not in AOSP 0/10 would not use
jesus christ why does GoClever even exist :v:

bro do you even wireless charging?
Stock Android 4.0+ sounds
Nexus 5 sounds (don't get why these aren't part of 4.4 on other Nexus phones, but whatever - http://www.droidviews.com/download-nexus-5-official-stock-wallpapers/)
"Ha they probably did this to make sure a Verizon device doesn't run the latest version of Android."
Well that would be fun :v:
There we go, updated using the factory image without wipe.
I wonder what changed.
That did nothing for me, maybe because I have the transparency mod and root.
Fuck the OTA checker, I don't think I ever used it, apart from when I unpacked my phone.
Google Releases KitKat 4.4 Bugfix Update KRT16S For Nexus Devices - Factory Images, Binaries, Kernel Source And AOSP Code Are Already Up...
They finally fixed the stupid message, though.
It used to be "Get Facebook on your Google and browse faster", now it finally says "Get Facebook on your LG and browse faster".
What the actual shit? Verizon Moto X has KitKat rolling out, today.
That's before the official Nexus 4...
Yep, unless an OEM actually puts in the extra work to make their own navbar.

I better go nandroid right now.
FYI, according to Paranoid Android ROM developers, Google has completely removed the original Tablet UI code starting from Android 4.4.
Say goodbye to that left-sided navigation.
Jesus Christ I adb pushed everything into /sdcard/, instead of /sdcard/desiredfolder
WHAT A MESS.
Took an hour to clean up and push things correctly.
Dat clean KitKat :v:
It's not, but I'm being nitpicky on what to restore. Basically only using TB on essentials (WhatsApp, AdAway, game backups), everything else I'll install manually.
I feel so dirty for flashing the 4.4 factory image without wiping data. Backing up everything to do it the right way.
I mean stop it from showing up completely, not swiping it away. Previous version had that option.
I hate how the latest Google Search update makes it impossible to remove the weather notification while keeping the weather card.
How's the compatibility with third party apps though? Last I remember, app devs either had to add somekind of an "enable switch" to their app code, or you had to root and install an app that did it...
Don't do anything else to it.
Just download it, copy the zip to your phone (any folder you know how to get to from recovery), and assuming you have a custom recovery (CWM/TWRP), navigate to that...
It most likely would, but there's exactly no chance ever that Sony is going to update a non-flagship phone from 2011 to Android 4.4.
You need the latest Google Search update (it'll work with the older one, too, but the layout would be slightly broken) and the Google Home apk, both of which can be found here:
Sadly, I don't see many (or any at all) manufacturers updating their existing low or mid tier phones to KitKat. Custom ROM will be your best bet, IMO.
However, upcoming low-spec smartphones will...
There's a bunch more stuff, I just mentioned the ones I remember from memory and the ones that I like/have a use for.
Runs smoother on my Nexus 4 too.
- There's a ton of changes/support for future hardware that should help saving battery (starting sensors in batches = phone spends less time awake, longer audio...
Weak charger IMO. Needs to output more energy.
FYI, if you're pissed that the stock 4.4 Nexus 4 image doesn't have a transparent lockscreen status+navbar, there's a fix on XDA:
Only KitKat and above users will see them, since 4.4 integrated them into the system. Alternatively, apps with their own emoji support will display them too on older Android devices (Facebook,...
have you tried a different charger?
the lockscreen doesn't have transparent status and navigation bars : /
I knew GEL isn't included, but at least you could've done this, Google.
I am dissapoint.
flashing kitkat on my strong independent mako who don't need no OTA
KITKAT FACTORY IMAGES FOR ALL relevant NEXUS DEVICES
440 FLASH IT
Nexus 4 image link doesn't seem to work on my laptop with Chrome though, but...
Not the only one. It feels like the Nexus line is slowly going downhill :(
Android Thread, episode whocares - Farewell gary's SK17a
(pm me you slut, I'll give you 5 USD tomorrow)
Before my first "smartphone", I had a Sony Ericsson k750i. That thing was awesome for its time. dat camera.
I'll have grandchildren by the time that happens.
I fear the day when someone posts a full resolution image of a 4k phone homescreen.
Imagine that.. In December Google launches a Nexus 5 with triple the battery life in the same package.
The outrage would be incredible.
