Bullshit, since when does the OP have the right to make rules for the thread? Last time I saw that the OP got banned.

Oh the horror, oh man it's so huge, God save us all. Oh lawdy, 15 miles per gallon how will we ever pay for all that gas? Us Americans are doomed.

Sure, that is one hell of a car.
But you know, over here in the civilised world a normal car gets about twice that mileage.
Also, gas €1.50 Euros in Germany, which at the moment is roughly 2 US Dollars. (That equals 8 dollars a gallon, but as a civilised country we use the metric system)

My first car:

1982 Mercedes 240D.
2.4l Diesel, 72hp.

Actually, trucks performed awfully in crash tests in the past because the cabin used to be the least rigid part of the whole vehicle. In other words, you hit a wall in an old truck, you get crushed.

And, no, you don't die from impact trauma in small cars. At least not in European models, because thirty years ago we invented something which is called the crumple zone.

That mercedes up there has one. The car cost me about 2500 US dollars at 80 thousand miles and served me for another 50,000 without major problems. And it got 24-29 mpg.

It makes me happy because it still looks restrained and it's actually been done well. It upsets me when I see cars that people have put BoDyKiTz!!! and PiMP EXhaUSTS!! on because it just looks awful.

In addition, non standard alloys often look weird. But that actually looks really nice and I congratulate you.

Thanks Mike. That's what I've been going for. OEM plus.

Here's a photo of what one looks like stock - mine looked like this when I bought it:

In my state only rear plates are required, so I don't have to jack up my front bumper by drilling holes in it.

My read plate says "VW2NV"

Look if you're going to be like that then just don't post in the thread, it's not hard

I asked not to post american cars purely because they're massive and impossible to insure over here. I wanted to see what the working class manage to pay for, fuel, and insure, by themselves, for their first cars.

What are you talking about? People get banned for little to no reason every day...

Anyway, on with the thread!

2000 Kia Sephia. That's wasn't my actual car, but it's the exact color mine was (garnet red). It's a girly little car but it was almost free. Good little car too, I think I put 600,000 miles on it before it started having major problems. (IE going to the shop more than once every 6 months)

Lush car (even if it isn't your first)

Is the engine turbo charged? cold into the intake manifold can't be excellent for a none turbo charged engine.

Not that much actually. Insurance rates are determined by horsepower here, with modifiers (e.g. popular beginner cars are more expensive).

Tax was terrible though, about 1000 Deutsche Mark a year, because of its old Diesel engine.

mike posted:

See above - it was a Diesel engine developed in the late 1970s.
Actually it had roughly the same power output per litre as a standard GM gasoline engine of that time.

Just bought it today, a nice 'n' new Seat New Ibiza Sport, even though 'Sport' might sound a bit overpowered, since it's only a 1.4 litre @ 85 HP and I'm not allowed to go faster than 100 because it's brand new. The rims at the moment are terrible but these are my snow tyres and they will be replaced by the original 17" 'Saga' rims next year. (Sorry for the bump, though.)

No parents included. I'm leasing it and I'm also paying for tax and insurance. So technically I'm penniless for the next 5 years.

Jesus, 1740 pounds... Tax costs me 620 pounds a year, fully comprehensive cover and tax is about 135 pounds a year. The car itself costs 122 pounds a month so I have to spend every holiday working my ass off.

what's the point on that corsa though, you claim and that's your bonus gone. Which you need. How big is your excess?

What will they give you for the corsa if you write it off? 600 quid or so? It's just not worth it.
