This will be my first PC built EVER I live in the United States of America

Okay, so pretty much here is what I am looking for:

Budget
Under 700$

Games to play
I want it to be able to play mega stuff. Like GTA 4, Valve games, FSX, and maybe even games like Fallout 3 or something, you know, good video card and RAM

So pretty much, I have no idea what I need. I know I need some good CPU, RAM, and a nice video card. (Sorry guys, I know very little about this stuff. I just heard I need good CPU and RAM but I don't even know what they do :/ ) Please don't think I am dumb, I'm just not very smart in this field. (Experience makes perfect.) Anyway, can you please tell me what I need and what is important and what it does, without going to cheap or way to expensive? Thank you guys!

Seeing that you don't know very much about computers, i'll try to explain something.

First of all:

The motherboard is the main board, where you will plug all the other things in, like the video card, the ram and so on.

That big green board on the back is the motherboard.

Then:

-The Processor (CPU - Central Processing Unit) is the part that elaborates all the informations, and then sends them to the various other cards (video card, sound card)

-The Hard Disk: is where all the data, files and folders of your PC are saved permanently. This means that when you turn off the PC the data will still be saved

-The RAM (Random Access Memory) this kind of memory is much faster, and is used to elaborate temporary information. When you turn off the PC the RAM will reset.

-The Video Card (GPU) will elaborate all the visive information, and then send it to the monitor, so that you can actually see it. A good Processor is needed to help the video card elaborate the data.

-The sound card: same as the video card, but is used to create audio.

That are the basics, so you can understand a little bit better how a PC works.

I hope I could help you

That is a really ugly picture.

Edited:

And motherboards don't necessarily have to be green.

That looks complicated as fuc

Don't be an idiot. Ground yourself before you start. Yes, that means you cannot wear grandma's woolly pajamas. Everything, basically gets plugged into the Motherboard. Watch some videos on how to build a computer.

Sweet man, thank you!

But now that I know what this stuff is, does that mean I will need the things in the picture? We have a PC shop nearby that does repairs if they can do anything.

I know, but I don't want to buy it. I want to build it. It's a little for education and fun, and then to supply me with a gaming PC.

I'm on Tiger Direct. They have the parts split into categories making it easier to know what I need. Also they are pretty cheap =)

Newegg ran out of stock of some things I wanted to buy for my build, so I checked around. They are the cheapest everywhere. Tigerdirect wanted $10-$20 more for the same stuff I can get on newegg.

Well I can get an OS and a monitor at like Best Buy so that's pretty much covered, as with keyboard and mouse.

Mine's what you need for a decent gaming PC and it's under your budget. Too many times people around here try to stretch budgets up to $50 more than you ask and never include shipping.

Shipping isn't free on that build. I just re-created it and the shipping is a few dollars higher on your build than mine. Shipping takes yours to about $750. If you're willing to go $50-70 over budget, go with Combine's build.
