I mean, surely the whole point of wearing a hazmat suit would be to AVOID infection? I don't get it. I mean, the police and clowns I've got no problem with (despite the fact that neither appear to have any wounds that might have gotten infected) but the hazzies don't seem to have any reason to have gotten infected. Admittedly, we don't actually know the exact method by which the infection spreads, but if the suits aren't damaged (and as far as I can tell, they're not) then they should be safe from airborne or blood-borne infections, as well as infections spread by mere physical contact.

I'm not complaining about their presence in the game, since we haven't had a chance to fight them, but the question of how they came to be just bugs me.

they do drop Bile Bombs when they die, they're carrying boomer bile and we all know how easily those glasses break.

Always thought the infection had spread through the drinking water so they became infected while wearing their suit because they drank infected water.

Correct me if I'm wrong that's just what I think.

I think it's to do with the whole situation of some people being carriers. In this case, one hazmat might be a carrier, but may be friends with a non-immune collegue.

That's only a few that will get the virus then, so I'm not so sure.

Seeing that hazmat wearing guy in the trailer gives me an odd feeling. Trying to protect yourself from being infected and failing, just makes me feel sad

Actually it made the hazmat zombies look a lot more menacing to me. Before they looked slightly comical.

Well, carriers apparently spread the disease, so it's obviously not only by bites or the like.

My guess is that a couple of CEDA workers were carriers, and they contaminated the suits inadvertently, so when everyone else suited up they were zombiefied.

Well the virus apparently travels just like any old flu, so it's not that much of a stretch for the hazmats to get infected.

Ever think that the Ceda workers might have made soon to be common infected suit up to stop them from biting them as they probobly weren't armed properly and they could continue having them work untill they were full blown infected? I mean hell, its a zombie apocalypse, they were probobly short handed and were having "Church guys" in hazmat suits work untill they needed to be shot which would explain how it got out of hand and you now have hordes of escaped, fireproof, killing machines running at you.

"I disagree with your theory" does not equal to "I myself know the correct theory"

And the disagree rating is there for a reason. It's not an instant "You're a total idiot for not seeing this" label. People just seem to assume it as such.

You'd be getting boxes if your theory would have been too outlandish.

As for my theory, probably scratches or earlier infection. Still, having holes in the suit would technically render the whole point of them surviving fire moot (as ridiculous as it already is).

But like op said, it's a game. Not gonna let it get in my way that much.

What exactly makes the hazmat zombie different? Is he just immune to fire or something?

Well the zombies kick and punch, which I imagine the hazmat suit doesn't stop them from doing. if they wanted to stop them biting, wouldn't putting a facemask on them get the same result?

Also, what's CEDA? I'm british and I don't think I've heard of them before, and Google pops up loads of results for different things.

EDIT:

Yeah, from what I've gathered they're just fireproof normal zombies, like the bulletproof riot zombies.

Very plausible theory if you think about it, but I doubt it would be that elaborate.

It's both CDC and FEMA put together IMO

CEDA represents any government organization that flounders during a time of crisis.

I read CDC as those guys in the Syphon Filter 2 mission(first level or something) who wear the yellow hazmat suits. I believe they're called the CBDC?

And the Hazmat Zombies probably we're already infected and then became full blown zombies before they got out of their suits

The infection probably 'activated' or whatever it's called inside of them while they were in the suits.

That may be so, but they're wearing hazmat suits, which you'd think would stop that from happening.

The common infected don't really try to bite you at all in their attacks. Just claw, punch, and scream. The blood on their mouths and noses are side-effects of the infection. Rage in a virus. Side-effects include huge headaches at even the slightest noise or smell. At least that's what I think. :c

A. Game
B. the suits protect against them catching fire. They might not be 100% fireproof, it'll still get scorching in there, but it keeps them from going up in flames like all other zombies

No, they do bite, it's just that they dont do it in game for gameplay reasons, its easier to just make them punch and kick. It's a developer's oversight.

They could seance that the survivors are immune and just try to kill them instead of bite them.

It wakes up on a timer.
Guys suit up feeling fine then BAM there bleeding and shitting all over the place oh and they have a very edgy attitude to KILL EVERYONE WHO IS NOT LIKE THEM.

I think that the zombies don't bite the survivors because they know they are immune. So they just try to kill them instead.

As for the Hazmat infected, I say that they were bitten through the suit. It's fireproof, not indestructible.

You ever thought they were infected before they put them on?

But they didn't know they were and put the suits on to try and protect themselves from the virus.

Their suits aren't biteproof, dawg. They may not show a specific wound on their suits, but that's probably because it's not really necessary, and plus you'd start seeing repeats of people with the same bite wounds on their suits.
