Well, I've got the Reaper IFFwhatever and can go through the Omega 4 relay for the suicide mission. But are there any good side quests/things I should do before I do? This game's a lot more linear (And shorter...) than ME1, so I never really got around to that kind of thing.

   If your crew has been kidnapped, they will be killed if you wait with going through the relay.   

   Also, I think anyone that isn't loyal to you will get killed as well, so you should probably do/have done their loyality missions.   

And I hope you remembered to upgrade your ship.

...but I haven't seen that many side quests that aren't loyalty missions or DLC.

Probe some planets, sometimes you will stumble across anomalities.
This mostly occours in systems where there aren't mission hubs or other mission planets.

I had loads. Their under "assignments" in your journal. If you spoke to everybody you seen you should have plenty.
And scanning certain planets and buying star clusters can help get more.

Oh and you should be fine going through the relay, you are allowed to do one mission, any longer and your crew die.

Fuck, I might be shit outta luck, I think I did some loyalty missions after    they were abducted   ...

Also, anyone have any idea if there's some way to edit your face? I originally modeled it after Marcus from Gears of War, but it's starting to annoy me...

The face will stay until your next ME2 playthrough or until you can import your character into ME3.

I've also been wondering if I'm ready for the Suicide Mission.    My crewmates have been killed when the Collectors invaded my ship after getting the Reaper IFF, so all that remains is me and my squad members. And Joker.   
My ship is fully upgraded, but I don't have all the armor and weapon upgrades yet. Though all of my squadmates are Loyal to me.

I don't really feel like scanning every planet for minerals to upgrades I may not even need to survive the Suicide Mission.

Your crew's been fucking kidnapped, no killed. If all your teammates are loyal and you have the armour, cannon, and shield upgrades for your ship, then you can make it through the mission with no-one dying. Although, if you've done even one sidequest after the crew's been kidnapped, half of them, including yeoman chambers, will already have died.
