so I have some spare money after christmas.. ($50)
Any recommendations on Nerf guns to buy?
I was looking at getting a Spectre and a Praxis, or a Praxis and Vigilon..But I dunno. I'm not buying another electric one, though. They're just not as fun!

I can tell you from experience that the Praxis and Vigilon are both very good blasters, but personally I find the Vigilon to be far too bulky and heavy to be a sidearm, and considering it gets about the same range as the Praxis you might as well get a Praxis and a smaller dart-firing sidearm. Assuming of course that you're LOOKING for a primary and a sidearm

So, I am going to Uni next year, and it is well known for its nerf wars.
What is the best gun, whats the most cost effective, whats the easiest/best to mod?

So definitely the Praxis...Is the Spectre any good? I really like nerf revolvers, they make you feel badass sometimes.
Also FYI, I already have a Recon, Barricade, Proton, Deploy and plenty of darts..

I have a nerf maverick, it has a pretty good range, 4 extra darts, and they whistle, I love it

I'm a brass player, and I have very good breath control. The mouthpiece is shaped like my instrument's mouth piece, making it even easier to get such ranges.

best easy way to mod a maverick to be more powerful? will be first mod.

The easiest would be the "penny mod" (put a penny behind the spring) however I've heard that this really doesn't accomplish anything. At any rate, new spring and air restrictor removals are pretty standard. Some people glue the rotation mech together so it doesn't slip and jam.
Basically, you have a lot of options, but since this is your first mod I'd say just stick to basic spring replacement/AR removal and worry about the other stuff later.

imo, the Maverick isn't worth modding. It doesn't add that much to it. It's alright unmodded.

yeah... but it could be BETTER when you mod it. Mine, after an air restrictor removal and a spring-stretch, gets nice ranges- 35-40 feet. I agree with you on the point that it IS the nicest blaster out of the box.

I'm quite confused about my Maverick, I put a few pennies behind the spring and removed the air restrictors + barrel posts and I'm getting insane ranges. I haven't measured but they're further than any other gun I own (including my longstrike with a 6kg spring), and any of my friend's guns. Did I just get a really good Maverick or something?

No, the maverick is just a really, really good gun. It has more powerful of a spring than most other guns, and is also pretty compact. There's also a chance you got a good gun.

Before the mods I wasn't getting anywhere near this range though, it's crazy
My girlfriend has a sonic maverick, and even with the same mods done she gets like half of my range.

I went to my friend's house to drop off my airsoft stuff for when we go to CQBCity tomorrow.
We played around with his nerf guns and managed to fit some of our real steel and airsoft attachments on them.

Not all Mavericks are made equal. Is your Maverick colored blue? The older Mavericks tend to have better ranges.Before the mods I wasn't getting anywhere near this range though, it's crazy

I would have to disagree, I think its if you keep it oiled up it will make the ranges increase like one time my longshot was being retarded and not getting the ranges it used to, I oiled it up and the ranges increased significantly

You should have stuck in it the freezer rather than clean it. I guarantee you'd have the most unique gun of any university or college.

Ok so I have a Longstrike, a Maverick, an Element and a Deploy.
I wanna get a new gun, choose for me! Bear in mind I live in the UK, so some stuff will be difficult for me to obtain but I'll do my best!
I really have no idea what the best choice for another gun would be, which is why I'm asking you guys.

Oh, another thing to bear in mind is that I love modding my guns so if there are any that pose great modding opportunities then please suggest those as well!

Rayven. Flywheel operated, so you can do an easy voltage mod. Meanwhile, the glow clip can be used in other clip system guns like your Longstrike and Deploy (though the Deploy might make it awkward since the clip goes in sideways).
But if you want something you can actually find easily, get Recon or Raider. The Recon has tons of mods like the Maverick and the Raider's stock and drum make it an awesome addition to your customizing toolbox.
Or you could get an old BuzzBee DoubleShot for the sawed-off potential.
