sometimes the extra sharpness and contrast is alright but the saturation is horrible

yeah mine looks too washed out, but his is way too saturated. Next comic I'll have a healthy mix of both.

it doesnt look too washed out, its a nice washed out. washed out can be good. but his is way over saturated, fitting in with his regular style

Honestly I prefer the original piece. Feels more... tranquil, lets me look around peacefully, makes me think of, well, something post-apocalyptic.

The altered version just seems like WHOA CHECK OUT WHAT'S GOING ON HERE!!!

basically he killed the mood of the original (which was really good) and replaced it with an oversaturated look that just makes it seem like it's trying too hard to push the radioactive thing.

I also think a happy medium would be best. He's all "If it's going to be radioactive it's gotta be a ACID TRIP! WOOOOOOO!" whilst yours is just too washed out making it lack contrast and focus.

Personally I prefer his version only for having better readability because of the increased saturation, but it's way too overdone.

Who knows.

Does it matter why it's noticed? One of the main things I find important in distinguishing a masterpiece from something "good enough" is paying attention to those details others won't even notice.

he changed the color of the rabbits eyes but didn't change the color of the wolf's eyes. i'm taking it the wolf is actually the evolved rabbit, or at least looks like it, so that makes it harder to figure it out.

he also added unnecessary green shit on all antlers plus a bunch of other useless crap. he fucked your comic, detlef.

not to mention that he took credit for your stuff even though all he did was shit all over it. he's like:

he really wants credits, credits and more credits. you did all the stuff and he fucked your piece, killed the mood you set by raping the saturation and over doing the colors, changed the animals aesthetically and made it harder to distinguish what the fuck's going on, and at the end, he gets the bigger credits and sorry to say, the one that calls most attention. i've been working on of2 for quite a while and giving credits is something very delicate, as if you include two titles like "modeling and texturing" you already call a lot more attention than just "modeling". he should've put it as "detlef - artwork/asshole123 - editing" or something like that, because that's all he did. he didn't do "final touch ups"; touch ups would be fixing up mistakes or whatever. what he did was add his own non-sense "details" that clash with your mood of the piece. it looks out of place. he even changed the bloody protagonists, it's like some dude re-wrote moby dick and added "it had green glowing veins all over it". it's an useless detail that takes you away from the original piece.

i'm not sucking your dick or anything by defending you so much, it's just that this really pissed me off since it's happened to me before, with my band.

I just adjusted the colors to be more vibrant. Most people have sucky lcd monitors so the more vibrant something is, the catchier it is in general.
This painting on DA has 27'000 favs for example because people eat up vibrant: [link]

Anyways you can post your version on your DA if you'd like to show it off and sell prints of it. I'll direct loooots of traffic your way, just like I did with grimhel. I got her on frontpage of DA and you'll get there too.

I actually like his version more, just because it fits better with the original style of the comic. I don't think the style needed to be changed just because it was a guest piece, you know? Either way, you did a crazy good job with it.
