It's giving me the screen that says plug into computer with the cable and itunes logo, I have done that and tried fixing it through several methods but it doesn't work.

    It's a 3G
Assuming you've got an iOS version that is compatible with the 3G (IE 4.2 and earlier), then download Redsn0w and use the recovery fix button.

Is there a tweak / hack that lets my iPod Touch use it's integrated speakers while I have my microphone plugged in?

I have this small stub microphone that works great, but I can't use it and hear audio at the same time, since the iPod Touch thinks it's a microphone because it's one of these -

Can you link me to the best version to use? I'm in 0.9.6rc19 and I don't see recovery fix anywhere.

Really sorry about my lack of knowledge.

    Use Audiogasm with Backgrounder.
Launch audiogasm, play music with the mic plugged in, it will play through speakers.
Enable backgrounding for audiogasm, go to the music app, unplug the mic and plug it back in. you will now have the ipod audio coming through the speakers with the mic plugged in.

It's the best solution for now until someone actually releases a system tweak which allows you to switch the speakers on while headphones/mic is plugged in

All good - that version's rather old so it probably hasn't got that feature yet. Grab the latest one here which is 0.9.9b8. For reference, that link is easy to find when you google "Redsn0w beta".

Audiogasm is on the app store, either pay for it or use installous.
and yes you can still use the microphone with it enabled

Apple will go rage-mode if they ported Siri to Android (Which is possible with the new method)

However they can block this by blocking the device UDID

Not quite. If you've got a iPhone 4S/iPad 2, you'll want to hold off so you get a jailbreak. For older devices, it'll just restrict you to a tethered jailbreak (which is still pretty good).

No promise for being untethered plus 4S / iPad2 might not be able to jailbreak from there.

Yea, i meant untethered because most if not all of us that aren't jailbroken are waiting for the untethered to be released. tethered/semi tethered is tempting but I can live without it. Besides, the hackers are concentrating on 5.0 fw, and 5.01 untethered might take a long long time.

I know what you mean, I used to feel the same way. After running the iOS5 betas since B1, tethered is all that was available and I got used to it - never crashed once and left me without a phone and because of that, I'm happy to live with what I've got. I usually only have minimal tweaks enabled anyway!

Musclenerd has a JB in the works for the A5 chip, but it's still in development.

I had a big, huge derp moment.

I sold my iPhone 4 for $420. Offered as jailbroken and unlocked. Well, I later found out 3.10.01 wasn't unlockable. Derp for not checking first. Luckily, I worked it out with the seller in purchasing a Gevey SIM for him instead.

Then when I went to restore to 4.2.1, was just having restore issue after issue. Took me about 30 minutes to realize I just need to kick it out of recovery and run redsn0w.

You see what switching to Android does to me?

Can't believe I'm being disagreed with - they're absolutely horrible. I mean a 10 pair of earphones are better quality than Apple earphones.

    1. I can hear what my mates are talking RIGHT beside me when the earpiece is in my ears.
    2. flat sound, distortion, weak bass
    3. tends to slip out of my ears
    4. easy to get dirty
    5. Sound leaks out

I would have given it away when i got my iphone had it not been for the built in microphone because you know, in case of an emergency.

I have been using iOS full time for over 2 years. ( 1 ipod touch, 1 ipad, 1 phone) I gotten very used to its OS, cleanliness, simplicity and user friendliness. I had over 15 awesome tweaks on my iPhone at 1 time. ( bitesms, ifile, safari downloader, winterboard, mitube, quicklock, sbsettings, etc) I tried my mum's htc desire running android and i get frustrated because it seems to hard to navigate and cluttered.

It true when people say once you get used and appreciate iOS's user friendliness, cleanliness and simplicity, you will find it hard to change to another platform.

No. I learned about jailbreaking while on 4.3.5 and I figured I would have no reason to downgrade seeing as I can't jailbreak 4.3.5, but upon upgrading to iOS 5, by iPod touch (4th gen) became really laggy. I don't even want the new features.
