Got rid of my tinny POS turntable and moved this beast down from the attic :
It's pretty good, got a casette and CD player aswell, and the turntables automatic which is useful for me as my retardedly shakey hands scratch everything :saddowns: Was playing Odessey and Oracle at the time![]()
oh shit oh shit my Larks Tongues in Aspic record fell behind my desk and I can't reach it :gonk:
How the hell does that even happen?
I was putting it on my shelf and it slipped because it was in one of those plastic wallets
My Thorens TD160 arrived today and all I can say is WOW. The moment I put the needle on the record it blew me away. I'll post some pics of it soon.
Also yesterday our history teacher invited our class to his house and cooked for us. He collects all kinds of strange stuff and we were free to explore his entire house. After looking through endless amounts of stuff I stumbled upon a little Audio Technica box. To my surprise I found a mint condition AT3200XE (MC) cartridge inside of it. So I asked my teacher about it and he said he had no use for it anymore and said I could keep it. Anyways we all had a nice evening and I walked away with a free MC cartridge.
Few Nirvana albums. The In Utero is a really recent pressing and is still sealed, they came with MP3 codes that enable you to download the album in 320kbps MP3. All are new releases, but I've had them for a while.
God damnit, Every time I see this thread I urge more to see my Dad's Vinyl collection
Oh hell yes, Trick Of The Tail is my favourite Genesis album, have that, Duke and and The Lamb Lies Down on vinyl.
Trick of the Tail? Really? I mean it's a good album but it doesn't hold a candle to Foxtrot or Selling England (or Invisible Touch)
Not by much though. I would say it's up there in the top 5.
Selling England By The Pound
Nursery Cryme
The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
Foxtrot
Duke
Trespass
Invisible Touch
Genesis
A Trick Of The Tail
We Can't Dance
Wind & Wuthering
Calling All Stations
not heard Abacab
You need to listen to it more I suggest.
Duke is good, but in musical terms.... it seems your liking it has taken over what you think of it as "how good it is" :smug:
Isn't that the whole bloody point?
I can like music that I think is bad. Why not?
This is fucking with my head now
I hope, in the future, my son will want to look through my record collection the same way you guys look through your parents' collections.
Tool vinyls are just pure eargasm. Way better than a CD.
What's that album where its just two sides of stainless steel looking vinyl?
True that, it'd be cool passing them down through generations or some shit.
I'd rather now care if my partner could relate to my record collecting. Kids are far too long down the line.
After being outbid 4 times already, my brother finally managed to score "Deliverance" by Corrosion of Conformity. This one is also signed by the band on the fourth side which is normally empty.
![]()
Damn... that band ruined your vinyl dude. :saddowns:
Try playing it, they may have scratched hidden messages into it![]()
My dad has soooooo many records I can't even count them. Probably up about 300-400, not kidding. Probably more.
I only own one myself.
Recently my record player will just stop in the middle of a song, at radom times.
Any reason why?
And automatically return?
No they just stop, and that's it, I have to take the needle off and restart the record.
I assume it's a direct drive turntable. So I don't think I'll be able to help, but if it isn't.. then I think its very weird. Make sure your power cables are secure.

I couldn't find mine, this is as close as it gets.
Hello music section.
My dad has couple of boxes filled with vinyls, and I like to listen to them when I'm at grandma's. Some rock classics and early techno![]()
Most probably a hardware problem. Try emailing the company, you must have some sort of guarantee.
Edited:
Take some pictures![]()
I would, but as I said they are at my grandma's house :saddowns:
A friend of mine bought all of his grandparents 150+ albums for like €20,- (including early Beatles pressings and that sort of stuff).
Maybe you could arrange something like that?
Fun fact: Back in the '60s and ' 70s you had to choose between Rolling Stones and The Beatles, if you listened to both of them you'd have 2 parties after your ass.
If you listened to the Rolling Stones you had a "buickschuiver" moped like my Kreidler, if you listened to the Beatles you had a light moped with high handlebars like a Puch .
Anyhow if you mixed any of those two you'd be in a fight, ahh the '60s...peace and love all around.
Got Springsteen's Tunnel of Love in MINT CONDITION for £2 :gonk:
Sounds absolutely sublime.
Yeah, mods and rockers. Of course, a lot of this was fueled by the record companies.
There was a time that if you went to a Metallica concert in a Megadeth t-shirt you would be raped.
