I was thinking of making a platformer on Android similar to Super Mario World where you press the left side of the screen to move left, the right side to move right, and everywhere else to jump.
Here is a diagram:
-Instead of using the left and right buttons you can also tilt the device to move the main character.
-Most levels will have to be played in landscape mode but there will be some levels where you have to go up vertically, so I think being able to tilt the device up to see more in those levels is great.
-Controlling the character is going to be similar to controlling Mario in classic platformer style:
--Slippery feel
--run some what fast then run really fast
--while running really fast, jumping will make you go far
--character power-ups like tornado jumps and plasma balls.
--mildly shaking the device will allow the main character to use his powers like plasma balls.
"True pros skip the pong phase"!?
That is purely lies my friend, the pong phase is like a programmer's entrance into manhood
I've made my first pong with wx. Am I man enough?
Heres a small idea I just came up with, kinda like your blocks idea TerabyteS but instead of falling blocks it creates a tree and each process is a branch. It could be 3D so you could look around it and stuff, i dunno i am kinda rambling on here now xD
You get the point
A cool idea for someone could be one of those 3D directory/file explorer things. There's a few out there already, but I reckon it'd be a pretty fun thing to make
Have you seen source media arcade? Not saying it's a bad idea, just looks cool
A neural network program, easy to use.
Where you can train the network, to become some sort of intelligence,
lets say, a neural mars rover sim or something?
It could be cool to learn it to speak your language, doing arithmetric and playing games, shizzle like that.
Something like this? http://www.nerogame.org/
I've got it...
Sperm Wars, a Multiplayer game where you race through many different environments(old and dusty-young and wet) to the egg. Customize your sperm, add weapons and kill your brothers and sisters.

A first person game where you're a zombie and you hunt down survivors.
I'm already making it with C++ and SDL. :3:
The first 2-D fps that I know of.
I was thinking about learning winsocks with a C# program that would very simply send large files directly to another person (you'd have to enter their IP and open a port). It may also be a good project to try my hand at WPF with.
make a decent minecraft
A 2D FPS? :crossarms:
Edited:
This. But make it 100% free and open sourced.
Mhmm. :3:
First person implies three dimensions uh
Unless you have totally no depth in your game, which could get quite annoying
In your case, it's probably 2.5D
First-person simply implies that you look through the characters eyes.
That kind of view in a 2D game would be strange and I doubt that Shotgunz meant that, but it's doable. Instead of seeing a 2D picture on your screen, you'd just see a 1D picture and you can only turn in two directions.
What I mean is that it will feature sprites only and use no 3D... well... anything. I'll use my really crappy art skills to make it look as if you're looking down a hallway but you're really just looking at a weirdly drawn sprite. My idea is hard to explain.
There have been a lot of games like that. How did you get the idea that this is the first FPS with sprites?
Yeah, there's that little, relatively unknown game called... what was it now?
Oh yeah! DOOM!
A better version of Circle dock?
I like circle docks idea, but it is buggy and doesn't have all the features it should.
To elaborate further on that idea, a shape dock?
You dock your items, then can draw a shape with your mouse and the icons will line up along that line.
