Are dungeons randomly generated?
First 2 dungeons' layout was COMPLETELY changed when I played for the second time.

Yes they are, outside areas as well. But unlike Diablo 3, they only seem to get generated only once per playthrough, not every time you start playing. So like in Diablo 2 pretty much.
Diablo 3's dungeons regenerate every time you boot up the game?
Played the stresstest a bit yesterday.
Preordered today.
Can't wait to play this in LAN with my friends. We're currently doing Diablo 2 but this is definitely on the list after we beat it. It's also perfect for the more casual players of our group since we can just bump the difficulty down a notch if it gets too difficult for them. That or we'll do the same as we did in Diablo 2 and delegate them to the back lines for ranged support to keep them out of the harms way.
I'd like to play with you when it comes out, i intend to play on max difficulty.
Playing the stresstest atm. Wanna play with me send me a PM, just started.
Also, I am playing the engi now, and it's awesome. So much ways to go with the builds.
Since I can't play Diablo 3 due to having an ancient PC, TL2 was the answer to my ARPG prayers and I'm loving every second of it.
My only gripes are that it's still too easy to become ridiculously overpowered much like in TL1.
Playing on Veteran no less and having a cannon wielding Engie just rapes everything but the bosses, it did jack shit to General Grell for instance.
But, god damn... the gibs, the ultra fast player movement, the spell effects, and the overall art style of the game is just really appealing.
I do miss ragdolls from Titan Quest but I can live without them since enemy deaths still grant satisfaction from how they're thrown around.
I'd buy this in a heartbeat if I had the money.
edit: Also, is the game a massive CPU hog for anyone else?
Funny thing, my PC can play D3 smoothly but I get some slowdowns in Torchlight 2 when there is too many spell spamming enemies on the screen. Changing visuals to medium barely helped too.
Then don't play on Normal, try Elite Hardcore and then you won't think so
Engineer seems to be a lot more self-sustained than other classes, I'm constantly low on potions on my Outlander while I had about 90 large potions of both kinds on Engineer when I finished the game.
Edited:
This is on Veteran, not Elite, though
So I'm not the only one that feels the same way towards Engineer.
are there any Healing spells (stuff you find as loot, not Engie's bots)? I know the first game had them but I haven't found any yet
Embermage gains some decent survivability with Death's Bounty and crowd control skills. Torchlight II has a lot of crowds of weak enemies running around in the overworld to siphon health and mana from.
Only problem is that if you use it the way I do (Death's Bounty + Arc Beam into a cluster of enemies), you don't get much in the way of charge.
There is the heal self and heal all (weaker that the first one but you can heal others.)
Woo, I got into the stress test!
I made an engineer named Ratchet with a pet named Clank.
It's a lot of fun so far. Very satisfying. I did see a bit of oddness, though. One time, an enemy was above me at an unreachable spot. He wouldn't jump down, my character couldn't aim up to kill it, and it just shot homing missiles at me.
Another time, a melee mook was stuck in a wall. It couldn't attack me, and I couldn't attack it. So I just ignored it.
It's the beta, it still has bugs. Next time you find something like this use F10 to take a screenshot and post it with the name of the file in the bugs thread.
Roger, wilco.
Will the game have guilds ?
This game is pretty damn awesome, pre-ordering it as soon as I get money (which I get in 9 days).
I'm having a blast right now!
I can't connect to any multiplayer games. Are there any known ports for this game that I can try opening?
Time to send the developers some email!![]()
Is there a way to hotkey giving your pet a potion? Because opening the menu and dragging it over is just impossible in a heated battle.
If you mean a health pot, shift + Z
When inside the game, I try to log in and it says log in details are incorrect... even though I made certain a gazillion times I am typing in my username and pass correctly... it just won't let me through! Are we suppose to use our runic user name and password? I logged in correctly into the site and forum, but into the game it won't let me
So far, I've played as Engineer, Outlander, and Berserker.
I'd never thought I'd say this, but Berserker is the most fun out of the three in my opinion.
The charge bars they've added are a really great idea. It really helps to break up the flow of combat when you can build up toward infinite crits or infinite mana or something. And it adds a little more strategy to boss battles than just "hit him with all your strongest shit"
Registered yesterday, today I got home checked my Runic account on the site and had a beta key sitting there. Never got an email or anything.
Well, It's downloading at 300kB/s now, that's not so bad I guess.
EDIT: GOD DAMN IT HOW MANY PATCHES DO I HAVE TO DOWNLOAD
guess I've just been unlucky then
Welp, beat the beta with the outlander. The tower ward spell is overpowered as fuck right now. Plop one down and stay within the circle and as long as nothing can outright kill you in one hit you can regen all damage you take instantly. I took down the final boss of ACT 1 by just standing there and hitting it with my swords repeatedly.
i like beserker and engineer, iam not a fan of ranged classes on this game.
but i felt engineer abit underpowered compared to beserker, maybe because of the difficulty i choose and my builds:
on engineer i went for more tank build, using that passive that increases ur defense and reduce a % of damage, another passive that actives a protection that absorbs some damage, and one that gives more attack based on ur shield defense. on actives i used the first skill u get when u create a engineer and the shield charge skill.
Killing solo targets is fine, they dont do too much damage on me, when there is a group i use shield bash to build my charge then use the flame hammer.
So this build doesnt do much damage but can take alot of damage and kill groups of mob.
on beserker i was using 2 claws, the crit leech passive, the passive that increases frenzy charge duration and the first skill when you create the char and another active that transform you into a wolf and dash through the enemies.
This build could do alot of damage on solo targets and when there was a group the wolf dash and the first skill solves the problem pretty well.
but also this build could tank better than my engineer because of the crit leech and the wolf dash, so my beserker was a better tank and damage dealer than my engineer.
How on earth is everyone logging in? why isn't it letting me? this is indeed sad
Oh God. There's a reference to Silence of the Lambs in the slavers' den.
In one of the cells, there's a "suspicious bottle of lotion." It won't have the title hovering above it or anything, so you just have to click on this one out-of-place-looking bottle. Elsewhere in the den, there's a wooden bucket you can then click on, which will put the lotion in the basket. A nearby skeleton will come to life, and when you kill him, he drops an item called "Buffadon Bill's Hide Mask"
I had no idea it was a reference until I was almost out of the den, then it hit me and I couldn't stop laughing. It just seemed like a really weird arbitrary puzzle.
Oh shit. I didn't even notice doing that puzzle thing, but I got the mask. It's amazing how I didn't even figure out the reference, and now I feel pretty damn dumb.
I think the Berserker is pretty self sustaining between the Shadow Spirits and vampiric weapons, it's pretty insane.
I wonder how much shit like this they've hidden in the game.
Edited:
Even when you start, if you get that ability that heals you on critical hits, you'll be able to tank most things when you get your frenzy up.
That's definitely one of the more elaborate references. Plenty of items have names that are references to something else. I found a pair of berserker-only gloves called "Cool Hand Dukes"
I'm playing the first game at the minute, I'm at level 24 and on the 22nd floor so far, damn good game, although the difficulty seems to swing from one end of the scale to the other a lot.
I have an engineer with two handed greataxe and I use the gunbot and pet in combat. So far it works pretty well, especially since I make sure to cast the gunbot for every boss battle. I have three points in that gunbot so far. I like it because while my pet and gunbot help a lot, I still have to fight too. I hate some games like this that have overpowered summons and pets where you don't have to do anything while they fight, or where they are so weak they don't help. This game they have the balance feeling right.
Started playing the beta today and its great, but I seem to be having a sound issue, where only the music plays. There is no character sound, no background, nothing, just the music.
Does anyone know what is causing this, and how I can solve it?
I've played through the beta with a couple of buddies, enjoyed it immensely. Then I went back to the first Torchlight and wow, what a difference. It never really clicked just how improved the experience is in T2 over the original.
