Gameplay
Like most MMORPGs, gameplay centers on venturing into dungeons and combatting monsters in real-time. The players combat monsters and complete quests, in the process acquiring in-game currency called "Mesos", experience points (EXP), and various items. Players can kill monsters alone, or they can form a party with up to six total characters. Loot is shared based on relative damage and level of characters in the party, more being awarded to the higher-level members.
MapleStory's 2D scrolling viewpoint more closely resembles a platform game rather than the typical 3D environment or top-down perspective of other games, such as Guild Wars or Mu Online. The controls for the game are executed using the keyboard and mouse. The keyboard is used for many game functions, and much of it can be rearranged to suit users' needs. The mouse is mainly used to trigger non-player characters (NPCs) and manipulate items.
MapleStory characters exist in "worlds" or "servers." Players are allowed to create up to 3 characters in each world (4 for MapleSEA)(although more character slots can be obtained through the purchase of an item from the Cash Shop). Each world, similar in content between each other in the same version, is split into at most twenty channels, among which characters are allowed to freely switch.[7] The ability to transfer entire characters between worlds was added in December 2007 to GlobalMS. However, this feature has a restriction — transfer of mesos is limited to 1 million, and players cannot transfer to the newest world.

I felt a great change
Before I had to spend like 5 weeks straight just to get to level 30
now it took me only 2 days, and 30-40 went super fast
when I feel like it I'll make a proper thread entrance to Maplestory and hopefully the OP will copypasta it

Maplestory is a good time killer, if your dedicated enough to level. I'd rate this game 8/10.

MS is a good game, no reason to hate it really other than its sort of cheesy graphics.

They just recently updated this game and made it a lot easier to level, according to their news e-mail. I haven't gotten on to check, though.

MapleStory is decent.
I used to log in and say meh, but now after the Big Bang patch I'm like, fuck yeah I'm going to level up!
I like how you don't sit around in the same map for 6 hours leveling your character twice.
You level up at such a rate that you actually change maps very frequently to have a different gaming experience

i finally look up maplestory one day after hearing him talk about it so much

I used to play Maple a really long time ago and quit after I realized how grindy it was. Although I like the idea of the WK/Paladin, I barely got into Page. I tried to get back into it later now that I can utilize the cash shop but the quests are so boring. All they are, are kill x amount of things or collect x amount of things from drops.
I read in Game Informer in an ad that they changed it but I don't know if I want to go back to it.

I seemed to have been in some of the worst places in MS, maybe because i'd always run into a bunch of clanfags who would randomly defame me until my fame was at about -50.
I don't mind the gameplay though, I would play it again if i could be ever bothered.

It's much easier to level after the Big Bang patch but after a while it will go back to being a boring grind fest.

I'll give everyone a tip; when the engineer class comes out make one right away because they are extremely overpowered and can kill bosses in under a minute solo.

This bullshit they're doing with the Aran and Evan classes is, well, bullshit. You have the game telling you "You're the hero destined to save the world!" and then you see 20 other Arans and Evans walking with the exact same shit being told to them.
They should have made it so you're a nobody that finds a dragon egg, or a nobody that happens to be good with polearms, not someone with a name and backstory that is the exact same for other people.

A lot has changed since i played years ago. Item drop rates have changed greatly, as well as levelling and many areas.

I want to clarify that firstly, this is the test server. Changes were made to the class accordingly I believe. While the Mechanic is strong, mind you, this guy is level 136 and Mu Lung Dojo Bosses do not scale based on level, if I recall correctly.They can spawn tesla coils that shock the whole map and shoot huge lasers that kill everything so I wouldn't be surprised.

It has it's own setting now to go into window mode. You no longer need to use dxwnd.

actually there is an option in the menu that says "fullscreen" or "windowed"
so yes there is windowed mode

Also, here's a big thing that happened:
They made it easier to level 1-120. For 120-200, it's much, MUCH harder. Until Nexon USA releases Lionheart castle it will stay that way. Also accuracy is nerfed for some classes. It's more based on your level now if you hit or miss, so DEX on warriors is sorta useless. For mages, it's more based on your luck, what weapon you're holding, AND level. So you need to keep your wand current with your level and put points into Luk.
