Plus all this rapping about being famous and shit is getting really old. I think hip hop is about to implode and turn into something hella different and I think Lil B and Odd Future and maybe Das Racist are like the forerunners of the new shit

I hear you on that one. I still think there is a lot of talent in him and I still really enjoy a lot of his songs. Even though most them are about getting high or have underlying meanings that are basically "fuck the industry."
He's still damn good though, and has songs that aren't about stuff like that.

Nah dude it's rampant in underground rap. Jedi Mind Tricks, Apathy, Mos Def, hella people in the QN5 roster, all the Non Phixion guys, Immortal Technique and his affiliates, Lupe Fiasco, it goes on and on. These guys are like pillars of the alternative rap community, can't just act like they're nobody.

Anyway if I want to learn about world events and shit I have books I can read, I don't need to listen to a dropout stoner repeating some bullshit he read on the internet. Only rappers I fucks with politically are Das Racist and maybe Rhymefest, he seems to have his shit together.

Regardless of whether I want to hear conspiracies in rap or not, I have a hard time reading shit that makes me smarter, then getting on iTunes and listening to the dumb ass rappers not saying anything. I just can't get myself to listen to dumbasses rapping.

The way I look at it is like, I have friends who aren't that up on politics. They're fun to hang with and play videogames and have a beer with and just shoot the shit, but when they start talking to me about politics their opinions are really dumb and it just gets hella awkward. I feel the same way about music.

I get what you're saying, I just feel like I'm making myself dumber by listening to stupid shit, I mean it's cool if I'm at a party or something but never at home by myself. I guess the difference between music and a friend is that I'm listening to music (rap specifically) to hear people who bring it with the crazy lyrics. Whereas a friend might be dumb as shit but that's now why you hang out with them.
