Welcome to the second rendition of the Ivan's Secrets thread! The old thread has been locked as to loose all the previous conversations + drama. Hopefully the size of the new thread won't intimidate new people who want to post.

    Anyways, onto the specifics.

Ivan's Secrets is a singleplayer, FPS/RPG set in the Aral Sea. The Aral Sea is a hostile dried out sea, filled with harmful chemicals, abandoned stuctures and you guessed it..... secrets. Work on the mod has going on for around 2 years now and we've accomplished quite a bit. Thanks to all your support we made it to #5 on the MOTY Player's choice. Way to go guys.

Funnily enough, this thread is the most often updated. There's usually something new being posted here everyday. There's plenty of media on the youtube + moddb pages.

Hey, JLea... I remember a long ass fuckin' time ago this mod was all about the Caucasus mountains and stuff. Was there anything specific that made you change to the Aral Sea (aside from it being a million times better for an art style and story?)

some things I noticed from the youtube vids (i know the mod isn't done)

shotgun shell has pistol sound when it fell
silencers on anything 9x19mm and up you still hear a distinct crack, as the ammo is supersonic
silencers also reduce 99% of muzzleflash and you only really see a puff of smoke
not sure if you guys changed it but the vid I saw with the AK the drawback on the bolt carrier is not far enough to chamber a round

    Edited:

also the grenades have pretty much perfect effects but the kill radius is like 25 yards

For the grenades I might consider firing about 40 bullets out of it in random directions to simulate shrapnel

Smod did that and it was a great little addition. You should definitely include it. It's especially cool when you throw one in a closed area and watch all the shrapnel impact against the walls.

    Yeah, simply put.

Outdoor towns = tactical engagements vs vehicles + humans
Bunkers = puzzles, "scripted" events, "monsters"

Have you scrapped some of the older weapons that are on the ModDb page? Like the Remington 870 and Black Powder Percussion Cap rifle?

Also, regarding shotguns? Any others planned like a Double Barrel Shotgun or a "smaller" gauge shotgun like a Mossberg?

There's a Saiga, the KS23 fills the pump action role because tbh, pump action shotguns pale in comparision to the power of automatic unless it fires AA gun rounds

In which case the KS-23 is simply a pump shotgun on steriods

Finally a game where grenades pose an actual danger, rather than just a random hit due to someone that spams them. :buddy:

The sounds sound great on the Mosin Nagant. The stripper clip still seems a tad small, and the magazine doesn't encompass the entire bottom of the rifle, though. The bolt seems to be worked just slightly too fast. The rest is pretty much spot on.
