I like the first and fifth gen models, all the others are ugly, imo.

In about ten minutes after that there was cones, ropes, and cops (like actual cops not rent-a-cops) standing around it with their batons twirling.

What the fuck it's a car.

Cheap to run, cheap to own, easy to work on and there's a fucking beetle specialist shop which has everything for beetles a few miles from me
Don't get fucked over by "Beetle specialty shops". Generally they overcharge for pieces that should be 3/4 or 1/2 the price. There's a shop near here called Bug Haus that overcharges a lot. We rarely got anything from them, except for one tail light and a bunch of blinker relays. Those fucking blinker relays...

    Edited:

am i the only one who likes the look of the prelude?
I love the look of the 2nd gen and 3rd gen. But they had the worst engines. The fifth gen is okay, probably the best prelude ever made due to the platform. In fact, I know it was the best prelude ever made.

If the 3rd gen had a proper B series or an F series, I'd have thrown Civics to the wind a long time ago and I'd be driving a 3rd gen Lude.

Sounds like a good candidate for an engine swap!

Do have to agree though, third gens are the best in terms of look and character. Not sure how they handle, I've never driven one. When it comes to driving there's not a lot in it between 4th and 5th gens, 4th gen steering is a bit heavier which I liked but it didn't feel as sharp as my 5th, could be down the the setup though.

From what I hear, the 4WS 3rd gen is one of the best handling cars, it was the fastest production car through the slalom course in 1988, beating things like the Lamborghini Countach and Corvette.

They're a horrible platform for engine swaps, unfortunately :( The only H22A swapped 3rd gen I remember cost upwards of 9k, and was a stock rebuild.

Definately the best looking one, and most aerodynamic. It was sharp as a knife, love that wedge look. If only it didn't have a horrible engine.

Although if I think about it long enough, IIRC they have the same mount setup as the Accord of the same generation... I could be wrong. If so, I know a place that sells B series mounts for $350~ or so. A B18A1 or B18B1 in that car would be nice, maybe even a CR-VTEC swap.

Get one! Good examples that need a bit of fixing up go for $1000-$1500 around here. My friend bought one for $1000 that needed a wiring harness, they even gave him a new one with the car. I put it in for him, and long story short it's still running today. He primered it, I don't know why. It was a nice cherry red.

His body is pre-71, since it's missing the quarter window vents. If I had to guess, that looks to be a '69 body, since the vent under the rear glass is so tall... Could also be a '70.
