I'm looking for a cheap, safe gas mask that offers sufficient protection against BB impact and doesn't look too ugly. Are there any military surplus gasmasks that fit the bill? Where's the best place to purchase one?

The Army Glock is a clone of the Marui Glock so you can just put a metal barrel meant for a Marui Glock in it.

KWA Glocks are discontinued. You might find one used if youre lucky.

sure i couldnt buy a upper/lower reciever seperately and put them together? surely they havent stopped all production completely?

And that's an inner barrel, which is metal on the Army R17, what you want is a metal outer barrel.

wait, does the outer barrel really matter? noob question, doesent the bb not touch that?

No, the BB only goes through the inner. The outer is really just there for looks and protection because having a long bronze colored tube coming from your gun is fugly.

The outer matters alot, the inner is pretty fragile.

it seems like my brother is considering about getting it, because a nearby place supposedly sells them and he has heard some good things about it from a local guy, i'm trying to talk him out of it, because he hasn't gotten TOO deep into airsoft because every airsoft gun he has gotten, it has broken, and I don't want him to lose interest and money on a shitty gun,
It seems like he wants range and durability, as well as upgradability.
He seemed interested about being a support gunner, but it looks like he just wants something like a C-Mag, and he seemed interested in the KWA G36, but everywhere has it out of stock, if anybody can find it in stock somewhere decent, it would be incredibly appreciated.
What i'm asking is for reasons why not to get it, and some alternatives relating to those criteria, I believe he's willing to spend as much as a KWA, and he doesn't want it to break first time on the field because of a tappet plate or something because of winter.
He also seems to like some non-run of the mill guns, such as the german weapons, and he like the F2000 from G&G, but i'm not sure, also, I was going to suggest a RPK, but unfortunately he doesn't like bakelite magazines, he likes the nice metal AK-47 mags.
I really don't want him to make a bad decision.
On an unrelated note, my local field's tech says that i'm probably going to want to upgrade my G&G, what are the best ways to start on this, such as what are the best companies, and best starts to immediately switch out?
I'd rather not destroy my gearbox with a big spring, though.

Stay away from ARES. Ask him what kind of guns he likes, G36, AK, Sigs, etc.

He seems like he's up for mostly anything, as long as it's durable, and can do what I stated.
He says that he definitely wants to get an AK in the future

Budget seems to be $300-ish? If he's fine with an M4, then a KWA for sure. If he doesn't want an M4, then the KG36 if you can find it in stock anywhere, or the ICS Sig-552.

AFAIK the ICS Sig is pretty good but I've never fired one, you might want to do a little research.

Yeah it didn't take long at all. I think Customs might be a little tougher for you though, seeing how it's flying into New York, and they're usually a bit more strict. Mine went into Chicago, where they're more lenient. They probably thought the gun was going to Detroit or something.Just ordered a Glock from them. It'll get through. When you open the box, you'll notice a black strip of tape over the Glock trademark. As long as that's there, it'll be fine. Customs won't mess with it. They're more concerned finding dirty bombs and radioactive material, rather than a gun that fires plastic bullets.

gasmasks with ballistic lenses are rare (the only one I know with factory made ballistic lens accessories are the S10) and even then a DIY won't guarantee a 100% bb safe mask
You can try cutting plexiglass/lexan plates and attempt to do a DIY but I can't make any promises that your lenses will deflect bbs
