Depends, are you going to take it the fuck offroad?
or do you need to get fucked in the mouth

I'll drive on the side of the road when there's enough room if you want.
Depends, the unlimited comes stock with a Dana 44 rear which (with the proper mods, it's more than just a lift and big tires, driveshafts, SYE, shafts) in turn can handle larger tires (37"). They also have more space and a longer wheelbase which helps in snow.
The downside is they're longer, obviously. So on small trails, you'll be doing a lot more 3 points than a SWB wrangler.
i think he just needs room for panties and perfume
went on some trails in florida last summer when we went on vacation, took a wrong turn and we think we wound up in the ATV trails, only reason we couldn't go any further was the trail was too thin :D
How do I post big pictures of my Jeep? I have a couple muddin ones to post.

if you don't like trucks then you won't like wranglers. Wranglers drive more like trucks that my explorer sport trac does. I personally like how they drive though. Also, you need to consider the trim levels. There's the sport which the basic level (and I think if you get the sport unlimited you've got trail rated dana 44's as previously mentioned whereas if you get the standard sport 2 door they're dana 30's?), then there's the sahara which is the "fancy" trim level which is basically all the nice looking stuff and then there's the rubicon, which has pretty much everything you would need (sans winch and more lights) to do anything off road. They have the electric sway bar disconnect (the thing that allows your wheels to articulate a lot), front and rear locking differentials (each wheel moves no matter what), dana 44's, the off road tires, rocker rails, etc. Of course this all applies to new rubicons. If you go back a couple years, I think they all used air actuated sway bar disconnect and locking differentials.
I know the post is a couple months old but still
This was from '09, my first time driving off-road and only 1 week after I got my license
This was from early this year and was my first proper time in soft sand:
There was me and 2 other mates, one of them had their old diesel hilux (it loved the soft sand... *cough*). We got stuck on the beach for a bit the night before, which I have video of actually.
Can't say I'm a huge fan of sand.
Lower pressures and something other than HT tyres probably would've helped.
Imgur seems to be having some problems so the photos may not show up at the moment :/
I wish I had any trails like that around here :(
Only forests around here where you can't fit a car between the trees
Here's the last image in a bit higher resolution
Yeah, fortunately we've got all the old logging roads and, like in that first photo, tracks that follow powerlines that head out from the city to near-by towns.
Nice Jeep. I'm from the Lower Peninsula of Michigan and I got some nice trails around me. You're going to lift that Jeep up, right?

hope this worked, if so this is Bridgeport OHV Park, if not sorry

Nice muddy mess.
Finally found a couple decent trails a few miles from my highschool. Went and checked them out yesterday, should be fun for when I have another truck and some buddies there.
First one is like this, stretches for a half mile out to a sand bar on the river.
Second one goes down a rocky ass road, stretches back a ways and into this big field. No signs indicating who's property it is so were in the clear. Going back maybe this Monday with two other people, I'll turn my white paint brown.

Those looks like some nice trails. Be sure to post a picture of your nice muddy truck.
I'll have a few videos as well. Will definitely be some fun. I've got an 00' Explorer, it fairs alright with some 31" Uniroyal all seasons. Nothing special at all. What I would really LOVE to have is an Unlimited 4 door like the one you've got. Those things are so sick.
Well looks like this revived back up. I just went out today. Ended up fucking up my tie rod but I'm putting the new one on tomorrow
Moving a tree
And the damage. Supposed to be straight...
Edited:
Every new wrangler has a Dana 44 rear, the YJs and TJs (88-06) either have a Dana 35 rear (I have one, don't run more than 33's and don't wheel hard or it'll boom), or a Dana 44 if you have a rubicon (which also has a D44 front), or an Unlimited (LJ) which has it.
I really have to go trail hunting when I get the black Jeep on the road
uhm that's a road
No...that's a trail/track.
This is a road:
So is this:

I went offroading in my '01 XJ today under a bunch of huge power tower things. did a few donuts and avoided the big ruts. tons of fun but I need to get it running 100% before I do it a lot more.
All the trails are nearly 4 hours away and my 88 Jeep stays too clean... :c
Where can I find private trails and such. Maybe some will be closer.
Scan the sides of back roads. That's all I've ever done. Just spot for obvious openings in the sides of roads with some sort of tiretrack going through it.
Granted, it is trespassing. Just don't be obvious, don't tear up the trail, and don't drive into someone's yard.
Even use google maps.
As for trespassing, where I live at least, authorities or property owners cannot seek legal action if there are no posted signs anywhere in sight. I always look for private property, no trespassing, or "keep out" signs wherever I go. Same goes for gated or chained entry-ways.
Take off the no trespassing signs.
"Officer I didn't see any signs, otherwise I would've turned around!"
I love Jeeps and trucks for that reasons.
But for some reasons, my Grand prix gets well in offroad, I should've took pictures of areas we went with school in the forest.
Oh sorry, were you talking to me?
If you were: Nah, I'm probably not going to lift it but if I do it'll only be an inch or so. I don't get to take it offroad all that often (especially now that I've got my enduro motorbike), but when I have, it's done pretty well as it is.
It's got IFS, so if I were to lift it too much then I'd start popping CV joints and I'd rather it stay reliable.
I will be replacing the HT tyres with ATs when they wear out though. That should help a bit, in both offroad performance and appearance![]()
Guys, I have a dilemma. I've been considering saving up for an 08-10 Wrangler 4dr, promptly because it looks awesome and can be a more than capable offroader with simple upgrades/bolt-ons, offers plenty of ground clearance, and all that jazz. Plus the fact that you can remove the doors and soft top for a completely open cab, which would be sweet for those summer days and nights. However, it can get a little pricy, and with college coming up next year, that dream could get delayed a little.
Now with the 00' EB Explorer I have now, I can make it into a more than capable off roader while making it looks badass in the process. The only downside is that the mod list required for a look like this.... (which looks fucking sweet IMO)
... is pretty extensive. 2 inch torsion twist up front, shackles in the rear, jacked up with a 3 inch body lift (not too easy on these trucks) and 33 inch tires wrapped all around. A full 33" spare does not fit underneath, so I would have to fab up a swingout carrier or throw it in the back with limits the space in the cab. Another route I could go were to do a SOA (spring over axle) swap and buy the $1000 kit for some lift spindles up front, because it does have the IFS. Not to mention that the truck already has 123K on the clock.
So... should I
1) Wait and purchase myself a new-lightly used 4dr Wrangler or,
2) Jack up the Explorer I have now, go through the extensive amounts of work required, all to make an old truck like mine be a little more capable.
Kinda leaning toward option 1. Thoughts?
I always wanted to do number 2 with my jimmy but in the end went with number 1, bought a new vehicle with the stuff already on it. Thing is you know what your vehicle has been through, you never know what you're getting into when buying a modded vehicle. Ricer cars have been raced to egypt and back, offroaders have been beat to shit, maybe even rolled...never know
I love my Explorer, I just want something that I can daily drive AND be able to do some tuffer wheelin with when I feel like it. I'll probably give her one last pair of shoes and call it quits. Maybe some shackles and a torsion twist.
I definitely want to go for a jeep next. Question is Sport, Sahara, or Rubi? Jeeps owners... any recommendations?
I know the Sahara is pretty cool.
Where in the LP of MI are some nice trails? Im in the Metro Detroit area, and my friend with a bronco is
looking for some.
With some help I was finally able to get the pic posted instead of a URL, this is at Bridgeport OHV park
Sport is just base model. Sahara is luxury "car-like" model. Rubicon is top of the line with off road package. Go Rubi if you have the money, otherwise, sport.
Mine is Sahara, but it was the one with all the options back in '98...Really any model is fine in my opinion, if you're gonna go off roading why pay more for the "luxury" trim on one
it looks top heavy but its not
What. The. Actual. Fuck

Feels like it was flippin over man
WHAT ARE YOU TALKIN ABOUT!?
You don't need no Jeepie thing:
