Uhh, since 2006 I guess. The mark II and 24-70mm alone are worth £2600

And I used it drunk... I feel privileged :3:
Nissan Di622
i've not put anything towards a car
it all goes into guitar shit
riding a bike in search of good photographs feels MUCH more inspiring than driving a car around town. There's less distraction, less obstruction by the vehicle, more places you can squeeze into, and pulling over to get a shot doesn't require a whole road shoulder or parking spaces.

Looking to acquire a flash or a telephoto, not sure which.
The 60D is lovely, but wouldn't it make more sense to go FF from a 400D?
FF is not an 'upgrade' so to speak, it's more of a characteristic.
He might want a 7D.
once i can afford it, im getting 5D III to replace my 1000D
I'd improve my skills before I started even thinking about making purchases like that.
i have an old hanimex tz1*32, for a pentax me super. will it fry my 1000D/XS if I mounted it and fired it? The 400D is safe to 250v but i'm not sure about the XS
All the people without a 5D2 saying they're holding out for the 3's, i bet most of them will end up buying a mark ii anyway.
its not like game consoles where the newest one fills in a price point of the previous. mkii's will still sell for about $2k while the mark iii's will probably be somewhere around $3.5k body only.
even over time, the mark ii will always be cheaper than a mark iii.
Edited:
it'll be fine.
yeah bopie, but by the time i go to upgrade people will be pissing themselves over a 5D IV and the 5D II will be ooold news
Edited:
and i can't check the flash until tomorraw argh
I'll be carelessly tossing a 1DsV in the backseat of my porsche by then.

hehe
Well I'd be torn in that case. I absolutely love driving around. It's allowed me to go out and get quite a bit more photographs than usual.
Edited:
true dat.
It's also why I'm buying a bike mount for my car soon. Well not because of photography, but because riding bikes is so awesome.
Well I looked at the title of this thread and thought that the General Gear Discussion Thread would be a good place to ask a question about which gear to get and where to get it, Correct me if I'm wrong.
roof racks are the shit
Edited:
+ another reason we need a photography subforum - too many photo threads.
it used to be that everything was discussed in just the creative thread.
Jesus fuck, I hope that isn't your car.
I'd love to get a 5Dmk2 but that's going way beyond my budget unfortunately.
I've been thinking whether to go for the 60D or the 7D. I tried comparing them in snapsort but I don't see much difference between the two, and the advantages of the 60D appeal to me more.
Maybe snapsort is missing some features or something, because I don't think it's worth spending the extra cash for the 7D.
Can anybody recommend a good remote timer for my 450D so I can do timelapses?
I was looking at this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Timer-Remote...766980&sr=1-11
I'm not sure if it'll do exactly what I want. Basically I need an intervalometer, so I can set the exposure time and the time between exposures.
At the bottom of the info it has "Exposure Count (N)" I'm not sure what that's referring to exactly...
Any help would be much appreciated.
I mean the Aperture and ISO and shit.
I have something similar, but with a different brand, it's cheap, simple, and it works, get it.
I made an intervalometer with my Arduino, some stereo audio cable, 2 reed relays and a 2.5mm stereo jack. Going to build it into a nice enclosure using a custom board at some point.
At the moment.
Canon 400D

In the next month or so I plan on finally getting my 7D, it was a toss up between the 7D or the 5DMKII. It just seems more practical for what the type of Photography I do.
After that I plan on getting myself an external flash, most likely the EX430II.
Then after all that, I'll look into getting myself some ND Filters to achieve some of those great water shots, and the like.
As for the type of Photography I do:
So yeah, basically I'm looking to get into the Sports Photography field, mainly to do with Motorsport.
Off the top of my head,
Canon T1i
Canon Ti
50mm f/1.8
28-90mm f/3.5 (For when I go Hiking)
18-55 kit lens
Pentax-F SMC 50mm f/1.7
580ex ii
Velbon Cx-200
Manfrotto umbrella mount adapter thingie
7' light stand
Westcott 43 inch umbrella
a pair of flash transmitters/recievers
Extra batteries
Extra flash cards
Looks cool, although I'm more a fan of trunk mounted racks to be honest. I'm uncomfortably paranoid while driving around roof racks.
Seeing how my car is a hatchback, a trunk mounted rack sounds perfect.
jelly on the 24 70
5DmkII + 24-70mm f/2.8 = perfect combo
Christ that's a shitload of distortion on your phone
its called a mirror
There's distortion?
I was too busy wanking over his gear
no, I just work out a lot
Well with all that gear I'd imagine you probably have to be able to bench press at least 600 pounds.
