A few albums that come to mind when it concerns concept albums.

How about some of us collaborate like that Free Music Thread to make something great. Give us your ideas for a concept.
WE HAVE FINALLY DECIDED ON A CONCEPT

After discussing complex ones based on artistic characters and simple emote concepts.

We have decided to do a concept based around the rating system!

    Ratings/Completed Tracks:

    - Reset Panda - An Agreement
    - Clovis - I Disagree, Reginald
    - Funktastic Dog - Dylan's 420th Dream
    - Hakita - Sunlight
    - Puddlez - Buzzsaw
    - Puddlez - Information
    - Reset Panda - Forever
    - Akayz - Tool For You, Tool For Me
    - Pepin - Friends
    - KanonieR - Orion
    - Akayz - Late At The Gates of Hysteria
    - Akayz & Pepin - Boxed On Saturday
(DurgsD Rating) - Pepin - Smarked

    People on board:
    Nonikai
    Pepin
    mynames2long
    Stizzles
    Yur|ko
    Patjo_sweden
    CoolCorky
    Scarbo
    Bomber9900
    Kalkka
    healthpoint
    Hakita
    Gregah
    JackHowers
    Kab2tract
    KanonieR
    Funktastic Dog
    Gmod4ever
    Big Bang
    CheeserCrice
    Reset Panda
    Clovis
    Puddlez

By the way, this doesn't mean people can called dibs on a rating. This will actually strive to be a good album.

I'm sorry if this seems cruel, but I will make sure outtakes get a good seeing off with a seperate album. PM me links to download these songs and post them here too.

FEEL FREE TO TRY ANY OF THE RATINGS. THIS ISN'T A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE THREAD. Try any of them as you please.

Remember to normalise the tracks to -3db through audacity and encode them properly at a good bitrate.

Pretty good. I actually felt pretty relinquished, I recieved a PM by someone whom I can't remember. It said "Enjoy your Gold Member status while it lasts".

    That made me feel happy.

I didn't really feel anything when I was Perma'd, nor when I was normally banned.

Maybe we don't think about how we felt when we were banned. We could create a character or something.

A concept album about Lovecraft's stories would be better.
One could do about At The Mountains Of Madness and one about The Call Of Cthulhu etc.

Im still against the ban album tho, just seems dull to me.

So we are doing the ban album?
I still think its too small as a subject for a concept album.

I mean it would be so awesome. We can do one on Call of Cthulhu because it kind of is a must fi you're doing something lovecraft related and it's a cool story. Although we might need to get Dream Theater to write us some godly lyrics.

The album could start with a new user, just finding out about Facepunch, and gradually getting more and more obsessed with it. He becomes a regular, posting a lot everywhere, generally making good points about different topics. He becomes a gold member, and then a mod for a small section of the forums.

But as he gradually spends more time on the internet and less time out in the real world, his points become less and less well made, and eventually he's degraded to just spouting his ludicrous opinions on subjects that he has little knowledge about. After causing a lot of flame wars and getting on the nerves of pretty much every other mod, he is demodded, and begins a hate campaign against the forum.

Eventually he's banned, and then spends a little time looking around the internet for another forum to spend time on. He tries out a bunch of them, but none of them are the same. So he goes out into the real world, and actually has a good time of it. He gets a job, and a girlfriend, and pretty much gets a life.

Then, after a few years, he returns to Facepunch. He realises that he's been unbanned for no apparent reason, and that the forum has changed a lot since he was last there. It's a lot better than he remembers, but instead of embracing his new found posting ability, he rejects Facepunch, logs off, turns his computer off, and goes off into the real world instead.

    What about that? :buddy:

I definitely think having the album revolve around a character to be an awesome idea.

You can display thoughts and emotions through the music.

Something I've been thinking about is basically an album about the five stages of dealing with death (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance)

    five long pieces of music,

the first being jarring and uncomfortable
the second being loud and fast
the third being upbeat yet urgent
the fourth being slow and depressive
the fifth being positive and hopeful

Agree for 2001: A Space Odyssey
    Disagree for Ban story
    Funny for Lovecraft
Optimistic for the five stages of death
    Zing for something else

But I do like how space rock/psychadelic styles can be used.

That's similar to my 5 stages idea, because there's vastly different emotions in each
