Remember, David's wounds may not show that it's healed, you can just get him something to cover his face. E.g. medical tape (You might need this, wouldn't use it.)

Collect David and tell Dyunis you'll find the cure, but if you want to get anywhere you need to move.
Continue onward if this room has an exit, otherwise search for one.

Wrap Dave's face with the tape. Then continue onward while thinking of something to pretend is the cure.
Also where did Dyunis get that axe anyway? If I remember, he didn't have it with him in stasis.
