So, I went to the USA with my son or the first time. We both wanted to get some paintball equipment, since alot of that sorta stuff is not exactly sold in Canada. Now, we are both OK with guns: we both have hunting rifles and plink often. Thats not the problem.

The problem is, that the store we went to for some paintball gear, Maine Millitary, sells all of the following aswell:

    Rocket launchers
    Grenade launchers
    Land mines
    Grenades
    Silencers
    Belt guns

What the fuck USA. I know, right to bear arms. I understand that, and I fully support anyone wanting, say, a pump shotgun. But you dont need a fucking RPG-7. Here are some pictures:

And last but not least, my son behind what we believe to be a WWI Maxim Machine gun:

Only 3k if you want it!

The website, with most of these items for sale on it:

    https://www.mainemilitary.com/

    Some highlight of the site:
    Machine pistols
    50.cal rifles
    Bio/Chemical warfare gear

Really America. What are you guys doing. You wonder why you have a gun problem when you have shops like this, where I could reach up and take a rocket launcher no problem.

And no, none of these are airsoft. I confirmed with the store clerk, a beefy bald guy with a holster on both thighs. All real steel. Anyway, I think you could tell just by looking at them anyway!

Hell yeah. And by the way, you're a moron if you think there are shops like this everywhere. I mean really, I'm sure the rocket launchers aren't even functional. Bio/Chemical gear doesn't have to do with guns and there's nothing that makes them illegal to sell. My shotgun uses 50 caliber slugs, so the .50 Cal rifle is going to have a way better range but they're around 4,000 dollars.. and also NOT illegal.

Also, only the first 3 pictures seem to work.

You can buy these things, but none of them are ever used in crimes. When was the last you heard of a guy using an RPG-7 to hold up a bank or gas station in the US?

This doesn't contribute to the gun problem at all.

And funny how this thread ended up getting locked anyway.

I'm pretty sure that Rocket launchers, Grenade launchers, active Land mines and Grenades are illegal. Silencers I know depend on the state, and require a license to use. Belt guns are fine as long as the gun itself is semi-auto.

Bio and Chem protection gear is perfectly legal. .50 cals are illegal for civilians to own unless given a special license for renting at ranges in most states (lemme specify that, .50 cal machine guns and rifles are illegal, special made .50 cal civilian rifles and guans that can use .50 cal aren't necessarily illegal or needing of a specific license, but most states limit them). Machine pistols are also illegal for civilians- in fact, all automatic weapons are except for those produced before a certain date, and they can only be obtained if they were in use by the American military/obtained by them in a foreign war and brought home and given the proper license to continue ownership and for resale. Even then, all owners need the specific license, and all sellers need the specific license, and it's illegal in the majority of the states regardless.

Most launchers have their tubes filled with cement before they are sold off to gun stores. Very few are in working order, and even if they are you still have to get the ordinance for it.

I am unsure how, if they are. I looked down the barrel of a few of them (herp) and non had any clogging/cement in.

And if they removed the firing pin, how hard could it be to create one for a machinist?

Congratulations, you've found a "Surplus Store".
Surplus stores sell old and often obscure military equipment. I can also guarantee you that most if not all of those weapons are deactivated, the only ones that might be suspect are the actual firearms and only if the store owner carries a license for Class 3 sales, most surplus stores do not.

In short, the ATF took a torch to those weapons, a surplus seller bought them and now he's trying to get some poor sap like you to buy them to display in your living room.

Since the guns appear intact from the outside they probably have dummy receivers which are also called 80% receivers. Non functional blocks of metal that allow limited function of certain parts without enabling the gun to fire live rounds in any way shape or form.

You'd need some high grade steel, some tools to work it and the ability to temper the steel afterward. That and most people don't have the patience or the eye to precisely machine gun parts so that they actually work without machines to do most of the work for them.

I know how surplus stores work, we have them in Canada. All of the weapons are completely gutted, no internals atall, and filled tot he brim with cement. These, not so.

The fact is, you don't hear about people using these guns for bad purposes. That's because murders are typically done with cheap Ak-47s and pistols. Those guns don't contribute to the problem.

You think I dont? I recognize all of those points. But should average Joe from down the lane have a rocket launcher, even if deactivated, on his wall? You could still scare the shit out of someone with it.

Very true. Only thing you could use launchers for is reenactments, wall hangers, or like you said shoot model rockets out of them.

Back then (2007) an authentic Iron Cross 2nd Class was about 400-500 USD. An old metal helmet from 80s around 30-40 USD.
