I just won :smug:
I just won :smug:
Edited:
this is not prog though
worst prog cover?
easy win.
So you listened to it then?
Not ready yet.
On the trip to Rush's gig.
I cant fucking wait :buddy:
I'm seeing them on the 25th :3: so excited, tell us how it goes :buddy:
Will do, but I aint gonna start writing a list of the songs they play.
Also, the gig will apparently be 3 and a half hours long.
Rush are fucking hardcore like that. When they do a show they do a show.
Alright, middle break started and the show has been fucking awesome so far.
They played one song from the upcoming album, 'born to believe' and they will play a second one later.
I thought it was Brought Up To Believe? (b-side to Caravan single was BU2B)
So if I were going to get an Opeth album which one (other than Damnation) has the least emphasis on death growls?
Death metal instrumentals are fine.
Ghost Reveries probably, I don't really know, tough one to answer since it's pretty central to their sound![]()
Listen to Still Life. That will get you over growls.. There is meaning to them.
I saw them on this tour back in april in kentucky
shit was sick as fuck
also did you flinch at the pyro during marathon?
Edited:
also also that wasn't the band I was looking for last page but thanks anyway whoever
Alright, just ended. It was amazing. They had MONKEYS PLAYING TOM SAWYER.
Also, YYZ was amazing and the raggae intro for the Working Man.
The best gig I have ever been to.
And yes, absinthe, I did flinch at the pyro.
uhh
what
I do not know
yes, it's quite good
brofist
Hold a candle up to Crimson?
:respek:
![]()
It's not as good as Crimson at their best, but it's not as bad as Crimson at their worst. :) I don't think it's really that comparable, to be honest; it quite surprised me how non-proggy the album was, although you can certainly hear a lot of elements of early King Crimson if you pay attention
Well that depends. Which album is King Crimson at their worst?
I guess Starless & Bible Black or Islands out of the ones I've heard, but I meant more generally songs like Providence or Starless & Bible Black or something
No way was Starless a bad album :psyduck:
Islands is okay, but I reckon King Crimson were at their worst when making "The ConstrucKtion of Light".
Still good though.
Hell yes! I was at the same gig. It was so amazingly perfect. I was afraid Geddys voice wouldn't really be at its best but god damn, he sang as good and clearly as ever.
The second half with Moving Pictures was pure bliss. All in all the setlist could've been better, but damn, if they after 40 years of being active come to a hellhole like Finland, I should just keep my mouth shut.
Also, DRUM SOLO!
This was my first real gig I've ever been to :3:. Couldn't have hoped for a better one.
Peart's drum solo was great. I really liked when the drumkit turned and he started using the electronic drums.
Also, I agree that there should've been Xanadu or Cygnus X-1 instead of some more unkown songs.
Absolutely, those are the exact two songs I would've really wanted to hear. I haven't really listened to their newer stuff, but some of it was suprisingly good. Especially the songs from their upcoming album.
The encore was so rad, too. Villa Strangiato has one of the best solos I know of. Lifeson is such an underrated guitarist.
And that incredibly awesome riff just before the bass solo thingy.
And the newest from them that I've listened to is Counterparts.
Leave That Thing Alone is awesome.
My suggestion is that you get used to growls. Mikael's growls are a big part of the band, and it will be a shit ton more enjoyable if you get used to them, and even learn to like them
Other than that, the only album I can think of that doesn't focus a lot on growls would be the newest one, Watershed.

You don't like Providence? :frown:
Edited:
The problem is that Geddy is pretty much unable to hit those high tones now.
Seemed to hit them well enough. Even so, he could just "remake" the vocals like he did on 2112, so they aren't as high.
Just made a playlist out of the setlist :smug:
Could you share?
Edited:
As in just show me the name of the songs.
Just bought ELP's Brain Salad Surgery on vinyl for £2. :woop:
Same price I got mine :aaa:
I was just digging in a section randomly and I pulled it out and I was like "WOAH"... the package is awesome.
Complete with poster too.
yeah he killed it on freewill
it's pretty awesome to think that there's bands out there that sound exactly the same if not better than they did almost 40 years ago
Can you still see the dong on the cover?
dong?
