Hey guys, I need to fully reset/ restore my pc to factory settings so it isn't clogged up with all these loose files and games i have everywhere.

Now, my question is - If i do reset it, do I need my installation disks to have Vista on? my dad sad something like that but he's a total derpfish.
'Cause I don't have my install disks for vista I lost them like a year ago. :(

You need to format your harddrive if you wanna start completely fresh and yes, you need a Windows Disc to reinstall Windows after that.
Or the image of one if you wanna start from USB or something.

You won't be able to register Windows then, though.

You can download Windows Vista and burn it to DVD and use your serial to activate it, it's not illegal as far as i know unless you use pirated serial key/ other illegal activation mechanic.
But if you want Windows 7 you need to buy it to have your own serial key.

pc world are too kind and i like to take advantage.

I had a 4 year old laptop that i spilt milk on it by accident so the keyboard wazzed out... i pulled the back off and spilt milk on the inside too so they could only replace it... i know it's bad but...

Just search for original image of Windows Vista "the version you own" installation disc from some torrent tracker and download it and burn to a DVD.
Then Boot from the DVD and format your HDD with the installation disc and after that just install it.

Using a bootloader makes it "warez", but just downloading the disc image and buying serial key is legal.

I did this for Windows 7. The download from MSDN crashed at like 90% so I torrented an ISO then compared the SHA1 hash to the hash on Microsoft's site to verify it was the same thing I would have gotten anyway. I just typed in the key from MSDN and it was all good.

Same thing for me, except replace MSDN with ACM's MSDNAA, Windows 7 with Windows Server 2003 and SHA1 with MD5.

Worked fine.

Get a download manager (IDM is good)

Make sure you don't have any recovery partitions before using the dvd method.
