I am trying to get to my 666th post to post my wall of text content.
My friend and I found an entire PDP-2000 in a a shipping crate while we were scavenging around an old warehouse that his family rented for storage. We opened it up and found that most of the components are still in working condition.
Too bad it's too heavy to move from the warehouse.
Not really content, but kind of funny. For those of you who read it, the network admin, the one that got me suspended, asked me if he thought I could do anything to his network now(he's made "fixes"). I told him yes. He asked how.
"Well, seeing as you have restricted me to 7 computers, I decided to do a demonstration for my Network Administration class on Linux. I installed Ubuntu and brought in any .deb files I needed from home on a flash drive. Should I choose to, there is a dangling ethernet wall port above my computer, along with a box of over 100 ethernet cables. If I were to connect to the network via that, I can then proceed to mock you via random Denial of Service attacks on your computer. I could also spoof your MAC address and thus kick you off the internet. Then, I may proceed to do whatever the hell I want and when you finally are allowed back on and you check the logs, you'll see your own computer is being reported as having done it. And don't even get me started on the wifi networks in this school. That can be even more fun. Poisoned ARP tables, changed WiFi passwords. Lots of stuff I can still do to your network.
Oh, and I can still get to Facebook and YouTube, bro. Fix that."
I told the teacher of my Network Administration class all this afterwords and he laughed at the admin. We still don't know how that man got his job. He thought Linux was a virus...
And for those of you who haven't heard my story, here you go.
EDIT: Oh god I forgot this part. After my whole little debacle with the administration they made it so .exes cant run off a flash drive if it's not a recognized name. So, if you wanted to say, run LOIC, Minecraft, Cisco Packet Tracer(because it's so much better than the Boson NetSim we use) or virtually any other program you just have to rename the .exe to iexplorer.exe. And if that doesn't work, you can cd to the directory where the .exe is and launch it with no problems. This school sucks.
People who go "LOL DEL/HP/APPLE PREBUILT SYSTEM, BUILD UR OWN" it isn't always cheaper
The only thing that really grinds my gears about prebuilts is when they "customise" the OS to fit their brand, like MSI's netbooks with windows 7 have an MSI logo on the logon screen, and pre-installing bloatware
someone said their 8800 was better than my 220gt turbo-derp lol
Linux, we already had a banner and a thread title, why didn't you use them? :colbert:
I'll eventually get around to convincing someone at my school to boot into a completely safe live boot CD and detail the hilarity that ensues.
...nobody mentioned DBAN...
we had agreed on the title in the last thread many pages before that
and then you come in and shit on it
shame on you, linux
Enough whining, just post content dammit.
School is using a proxy, most games on the school server (SoF, Minecraft, Quake) aren't set up with the proxy so we can only play lan games. I set up the proxy for those too and now the network admin is mad at me for lowering the average dl speeds with 15%
LinuX YOU BASTARD!
I really, REALLY liked the AGREED UPON title and the AWESOME ALREADY DONE banner. You festering maggot-cock!
Sorry, to open up the wounds LinuX, you're fair enough guy, now.
