I don't really get the whole "Neighbourhood" thing, the songs don't seem to have that much in common.

Not the first time I listened to this chill, hypnotic psychedelic ear-sex by a long shot, but I really fucking love this album. Unfortunately the only one I have from Ozric Tentacles, need to check out their other shit.

    A+

90s britpop at its finest. Fantastic look at British life and romance at shit. Plus Jarvis Cocker has one of the sexiest voices in music history.
I must also add I like how in the liner notes of all their albums it says, 'Please don't read the lyrics while listening to the music.'

Pretty dry production with only two guitars and a drummer but man with what they've got these girls rock.

I'd call them indie, but that's because I use the term incredibly loosely. Some people call them alternative, garage, whatever.

Indie means indifferent, meaning that the band records while it is not signed to a big recording company, it has nothing to do with the way the band sounds.

It means independent. And it started out like that, but it evolved, and the bands became associated most with the larger indie labels were influenced by similar artists, and went on to influence others after them. Indie an umbrella genre in my eyes, like metal. But not as big.

A Tolkien LOTR-based metal concept album, with prominent vocal harmonies and a strong guitar-driven epic quality to the music. European power metal at its best.

That was the first meaning of the word, yeah. And if you say "indie film" or "indie game" that's probably what you mean. But Indie Pop and Indie Rock have developed into real genres.

oh it's this debate again. genres are useful tools because they describe the sound of music. indie is associated with certain traits of music, that makes it a genre idgaf
