Here's a better version of the Panels room I did yesterday. Again, pretty dark (I am absolutely crap at lighting, but hey at least it's not fullbright). Now includes test chamber.

It's the same method for both Portal 1 & Portal 2 so that tutorial should work
Just make the lights a lot brighter, and that should be enough.
can someone make a list of the panel models and animations that are most usefull in general?

Can someone make a tutorial on using panels? Dimensions of plates, attaching them correctly, getting them positioned correctly so that textures line up, all that kinda stuff. It would be much appreciated.
Right now I'm trying to make a Co-op playground with a center room as GLaDOS.
I want to know how to make GLaDOS look at Atlas. Any help with that?
Last but not least, I just tested the map and apparently, neither of the coop bots move. (mind you I'm testing using ss_map and a joystick.) I can't see the other bot either. Any help with that?

If you need a door prefab I made one yesterday for myself. Will upload if anyone asks. It has the door and the wall surrounding it and fits in a 128x128x16 area. Picture of said prefab in use:

Can someone tell me the correct way to make faith plates? I can't seem to get em.

I mention in the post I hadn't had idle poses figured out yet. The way to do it is to attach SetAnimation outputs to a logic_auto entity with OnMapSpawn with the desired idle animation pose.
I am currently working on a thorough example vmf for panels.
Can someone upload a working trigger_catapult please? I can't figure out what I changed because mine stopped working.
Have you opened the vmf and removed the last entity before loading it?

Because they don't decompile right, they leave an unfinished entity at the end, you have to edit it in notepad and remove the laster entitity {...}
That catapult isn't working for me either :(
What about 75% more aligned textures?

I made Portal 2 Playground. It's not finished yet but it works.
here's a video demonstrating how I will use panels to make it possible to hide everything, giving you what is basically a big cube to fling around it:
Some friends have mentioned that as their biggest complaint in the original playground was always crashing into poorly placed props.

How do I do laser cubes? Because I can't get the ruddy thing working.
There are 4 buttons 2 for the lasers, one for the light bridge and the one to the very right is a box spawner (Look at the video)
Add a "skin" key to the box and give it a value. 0 is the normal box. I think either 3 or 4 is the reflector cube.
Portal 2 - now you can make blocky, visually unappealing maps and still recieve winner-ratings.
I'll wait until the official authoring tools come out because I found out that entities get messed up in instances. While the Hammer versions are usually pretty much the same, I blame the Alien Swarm SDK this time. I can't map without instances anymore.
So which entity do I remove when fixing decompiled maps?

I dont consider what we are doing now as "Real" Mapping atleast not for me. I'm just playing around with the new "toys" in portal 2.
