    I'm creating a map similar to my old RP_Stargate worlds series I made some time ago. The map is based on Stargate Atlantis and will feature various worlds from the show.

    So far I've created the Atlantis gate room and puddle jumper bay, I plan on creating all of the key areas of Atlantis' interior.


    Here's a vid a showing the rise/submerge feature





    Here we have images showcasing the maps latest addition, a Skybox which can be changed in game. Obviously, the lighting needs to change with the Sky, to do this i've used a series of light_spot entities which mimic the usual light_environment rather well.

    I like the styling and the colour scheme - it looks a lot like art deco despite it being based on Stargate.

    Just saying, before you try to squish as much as possible into one map which will just result in fucked up lightning and cubemaps, could you split the more distanced areas into different maps?

    Thanks, I've made a few slight changes to the lighting... hopefully your opinion remains the same.

    Just saying, before you try to squish as much as possible into one map which will just result in fucked up lightning and cubemaps, could you split the more distanced areas into different maps?
    Having different areas in separate maps kinda takes away from the map what I'm trying to achieve. I'm going to try my best to cram as much as I possibly can into the map, so there are plenty of places to explore.

    The overall layout of the gateroom looks good so far...
    jumper bay seems a bit too big though.
    This "spot light" through the balcony window,...is it only this bright from distance, or the same when you're right infront?
    Incase of the latter i'd suggest to lower the brightness a bit.

    anyway, tron city doesn't look like atlantis and vice versa
    it just happened to have a freaking huge tower in the middle for no reason :D

    what bothers me a bit, is the question if the lighting will stay this "dark" later in the gateroom

    It makes such a cool contrast between the window lightning and the overall room appearance!

    anyway, i'd suggest staying here on FP, as most of the cap staff seems to be here aswell once in a while. ^^

    After seeing what he has done in GMOD (not revealing what :o ?!?!?!), Im pretty sure he has ;)

    I always thought my 103 hours was all right I feel kind of put down now :( The gate in space idea sounds good but is there enough room to fit it in? I have no experience in mapping so I'm kind of ignorant here.

    Yes, I have something in mind! I won't be working on the additional worlds until I'm entirely happy with Atlantis though.

    Definatly, this isn't going to be a half arsed map by any means. So much so that I'm currently rebuilding half the gateroom because the width scale was off.

    I assume you meant EP2 here, you know EP3 hasnt been released yet, now that Duke Nukem has been announced I guess EP3 is the new one...

    Im pretty sure HL2 will be needed, however, you'll have to consult the godly creator of this map to be certain, as he is remaking the gateroom entirely :o But yeh, EP2 is mostly needed (dont worry, I have to get it too.. But seriously, I would buy it just to play this map :D)

    Though the tyndall effect ("visible" light) on the window is reeeeaaally bright and the rest a bit dark. The city looks kinda deserted/powered down.

    But yeh, I like that effect!

    Anyone has got any screens of the exterior of the underwater jumper bay?

    Thanks, and yea i've removed the light on the window.

    @ Vanguard As for the maps content, I'm going to try and ensure everything I use is packed into the map. At the moment I haven't had to use any content from EP2 etc. on Atlantis itself as it's mainly all custom materials and models. So we shall see when I get on to the other worlds!

    Dont get HL2, the content is already in gmod and other orange box games. Get EP2 or CSS instead...
