seems like it's more about being heavy then metal

it's the classic "hardcore-er than thou" that existed since the 80s hardcore scene. fortunately it only occurs in niches now. In popular culture with deathcore and that garbage it's not about being brutal it's about having the longest breakdown while maintaining the catchiest (yet shitty) lyrics and choruses. that's what brutal means in that scene

Annoys the fuck out of me when people ask wheather I'm into metal, to which I reply with a yes, and they continue to ask me weather I like bands like The Blackout, Bullet for my Valentine, etc.

don't know if it's already been mentioned anywhere but there's a new Hibria album out for anyone who loves brazilian power metal and dreadful lyrics. not as good as Defying the Rules, but that'll take some beating.

they've got a new bassist too :(

the more I listen to Defying the Rules the more it sorta bores me. I dunno why. I gotta try getting into it again. I like the US "retro" stuff more (Cauldron (canada) and Holy Grail)
