The M16A1 wasn't actually shit, it just wasn't meant to be used in the type of environment found in Vietnam. It was intended for use in a European climate.

Agreed, he is right. im gonna be the first to say i like the M16A1, quite a lot actually, but i happen to like the A2 better. Mostly because of early exposure to DF:BHD.

And overenthusiasm over its supposed 'cleaning-free' design was another factor. Once proper cleaning kits were issued and some minor defects corrected, the M16A1 did well enough in Vietnam.

Exactly. I suppose that the only reason that they said "cleaning-free" was that it was supposed to compete with the AK47, and as we all know, nothing makes an AK47 jam.

I like the A3 because I think putting optics on top of the carry handle looks silly.

A3 is cool because Call of Duty hasn't touched it. Same with the A2, but there's a group of kids in my area who play Left4Dead and they think they know everything about the A2.

Lemme guess, they think it has a 50 round mag? and yes, A3 is p. cool. But it pisses me off because i know some CODfags that didnt know there was a A2 OR A3. My first argument was that why would there be an A1 then skip randomly to A4? They are like "but then why wouldnt they have heard of it?" I responded with: "get out. we dont like your kind here."

similar to my AR-15.. sometimes when im at the range with my dad i'll fire in semi mode but it will burst fire 3 rounds and then the range master yells at us for firing "FULLY AUTO" :s

if your ar15 loaded 2 rounds in the chamber and you fired the gun would explode.

no i mean, it was on semi but when sometimes when i would pull the trigger instead of firing 1 round as semi, it would fire 3 as if the gun had a burst fire mode

You should probably just go get it checked out really soon, if anyone asks whether it's a legal machinegun you're going to be in hot water.

That is definitely a trigger sear problem (many semi-auto AKs can be converted to full auto simply by tying back the trigger sear). Courts have repeatedly rules that a mechanical defect that makes a weapon fire multiple times makes it count as a machine gun, so until it's fixed you have an unregistered, unlicensed Title II weapon. Better get that fixed ASAP.

heh you reminded me of my uncle, he recently bought an ak74 all black with plum (hot as fuck) and he had to buy a whole set of legalized parts from a store here in the US; forgot which store it was and because of cali's funkass gunlaws hes forced to change all the internal parts to fit the legal requirements and since him and my dad are both swat they can use bigger round count magazines; my dad uses like a 30 round mag on his ar-15 and i believe they can use other stuff normal citizens cant use so i dont know man
also my dad took my ar-15 in today, well just right now to try and get the trigger sear fixed

I was told by a marine that they are taught not to hold a rifle by it's magwell because it isn't as stable as holding it normally, and you can unseat the magazine or something and cause some bad shit.

The stability is true, but unseating a mag is not. i have tested that very myth with a friends AR-15 with 3 mags.

When you fire, the recoil causes you to try to stabilize by pulling back on the magazine. The magazine's not supposed to be pulled in this manner- and it damages both the receiver and magazine over time. The last thing you need is to be in a firefight and have your magazines fall out while firing because you damaged the magwell.

maybe, i never tested more than the 3 mags, so its entirely possible. at least it makes sense.
