Semi-fresh Mint 13 install.

I hate the Nyan Cat. Can you use something less generic as your wallpaper, please?
I don't see why your personal preference should affect what backgrounds he should and shouldn't use, really?
Less generic? I made that background in Google Sketchup, how can it be generic? I personally love the Nyan Cat, and Enderman, and I'd even add Nutella and a Magikarp in there if I knew how.
You're not trying hard enough. Everyone knows that a true minimalist routes his entire computer through his hard drive LED indicator(a one pixel screen, essentially).
How about a default openbox install?

nope, needs to be black for true minimalistic, and must have profont
Here, have sum netbook cinnamon :>

Love it. Looks more like OpenBox or another WM than XFCE4 but that doesn't really matter!
i changed it again.

My typical Linux action. :L
Excuse me for asking here, but is Openbox the desktop environment where you add the panels and all that stuff? It comes in a blank desktop wallpaper as the above image indicates?
Edit:
I meant this image.

Yeah, all openbox comes with is a right click menu
Openbox is known for that, but many WMs can be set up in such a way. You could easily set up awesome to only have a right click menu so you also get window tiling.
I have no idea where to start with openbox. I got it freshly installed with archbang.
Now my journey to make it look better, any suggestions?
a program to change the background, like feh
a taskbar to show wich programs are currently running, like tint2
a Program that shows you the system informations, like conky
I already have a option to change my wallpaper.
I already have some sort of panel at the bottom.
Conky is installed.
I got all those things by default?
Just getting back into Mint again after not touching it for 6 months due to Mate not having a menu to change sound devices. The only flaw I can find with Cinnamon is that you can't put panels wherever you want(doesn't support multimonitors), it sometimes glitches out and has to be restarted often and it doesn't have a proper separator. Spent the last day and a half reformatting a few times and trying to fix a grub install which didn't want to get overwritten.
Pithos makes it totally worth it though, it makes Pandora absolutely amazing. The open source ATI drivers also let me toss my TV in with ease and watch movies in about the time it takes to turn it on, now if only my steam windows would stop running away from my cursor and disapearing off the screen forever when i try to move them..
http://box-look.org/ should have a decent number of themes for the *boxes (openbox, fluxbox, etc.) There are a good number of themes in the Arch repos and in AUR. If you find a theme you like you might want to look in the repos to see if they're there.
Not too much different from the last desktop I posted, but I have to say: holy crap the Pantheon desktop's fast. Even more so ever since the project produced their own window manager to replace Compiz (it's called Gala, and despite only being a month or so old IIRC, it's incredibly quick and stable).
I like that. The DE is called Pantheon?
It's not a DE, more of a 'shell' with lots of modules (The dock/top bar etc.) It's by the guys at the ElementaryOS project.

And now my Desktop, with revised wallpaper version:

That was my Linux Desktop from 2011 when I was using Ubuntu.

Linux Mint 13 with Cinnamon. The GTK+/Metacity theme is Elegant Brit. I customized the panel myself to try to match it. Still working on the notifications bar.

I've had to retreat to GNOME Shell for now since Pantheon's bugging out (they aren't kidding about serious bugs when daily builds are available), but I've done some work to it already. Theme is Zukitwo-Brave (shell and GTK), icons are Gnome-Brave, fonts are Trebuchet MS 9 (bold for title bars), and for completion's sake, terminal font is Lucida Console 9.

You guys have magic dust in your fingers, 'cause i can't get any DE to look awesome as that.
More like magical brains and tastes.
xfce + color i like + netbook + facepunch photography thread = stuff i liek a lot

GNOME 2 fuck yeah.
Yeah, fuck Unity and Gnome 3.

Linux Mint (cinnamon)
archbang with xfce4 and openbox woo
Looks nice, what terminal emulator is that?
LXTerminal
