My phone is acting really weird with the signal. It can go to -111 dBm 1 asu (No bars visible) -81 dBm 16 asu (The full 4 bars) just sitting in front of me, untouched, on my desk. I can still stream an HQ Youtube video with no bars visible.

The weird thing is, if I hit the button for 2G only, I get a rock solid, full -81 dBm. Could this be a firmware / kernel / ROM thing?
Could be software or just the simple possibility of the signal being fucked. Has it happened recently in that area or has it always been this way?

It could be like my phone, where in my room I get 3-4 bars over G/E, but only 0-1 over 3G/H, so it could be switching to the 3G network, which is faster, but doesn't have as much coverage

I like Android more and more and hate WinMobile. I didn't knew about a list of programs in the menu and that's why it had 2 websites running, giving me a huge bill and my provider to shut down internet service. Bah!

Samsung has never had oversaturated colors on their devices. The only reason people thought the SGS was oversaturated is because they use TN panel monitors all fucking day. Anyone who uses a P-IPS monitor knows that they weren't oversaturated.

Where did you read the tab has oversaturated colors? I suggest you stop using them as a credible news source.

Bootloader unlocking =/= unlocked bootloader. You choose to unlock it like the nexus devices. You'll get a nice permanent notification that confirms that it was unlocked, and you will never be able to get warranty services.

If I walk for a minute, I can see the tower from my house. My old phone (BlackBerry Bold), my brother's phone (Acer Liquid E) and my mom's phone (LG Xenon) all get perfect 3G reception in this house.

Considering it can jump around to full signal, it's definitely there and can pick it up, though maybe the phone has some weird power management thing going on. The phone was unlocked and the guy I traded the phone with said he used a code for it, if that makes any difference. Is there something that the process of unlocking with a code could damage?

It's because Rogers keeps adding people to their network without putting up more towers. People have been complaining about the Rogers network being so inconsistant for over a year now. Switch to Bell if you want good devices and a good network.

    Edited:

Now if it's just your device. It could be the possibility that the radio is weak. My guess is that your device has a worse radio then the ones in your family members devices.

I'm not sure about Bell in your local area, but here, Bell has literally no reception. Most places, my friend even couldn't text off his Desire Z. He was FORCED to switch to Rogers because he couldn't even use his phone on Bell!

And I don't live in a city of 5000 people, I live in Victoria, the capital of BC, so that's not acceptable.

I go out west every year. My reception is fine in Victoria. Must be certain areas where there are lots of dead zones because I've never seen an issue.

    Edited:

Looking at google I can't find any complaints about the issue you describe. Maybe you should be looking at filing a support ticket. People aren't going to fix issues unless they're reported.

I just flashed a new 2.3.4 ROM to my SGSII (villainROM V2) and oh my god the battery life. It started going up! Obviously something a bit wrong there but it's good so far.

The weak radio might be the case, though it gets absolutely perfect 2G reception, which is kinda odd. The load on the tower is unlikely to be the case, since there's only a few thousand people in this area.

Mine goes to 55c while listening to music in the car. Then it starts to lag like a bitch and shuts down, never to be turned on again until I put it in the fucking fridge.

Well I guess the people out there are very stupid, because there have been no noticeable amount of complaints to Bell and Telus senior officers.

Why would you expect an issue to improve if you don't tell anyone with the ability to improve it that there is an issue?

It may be more of a heat issue. Lithium-ion batteries suffer capacity loss with heat. When charging, you create heat and when you play you create heat. When you play and charge at the same time you are creating more heat than when you do just one or the other.

This is pure speculation on my part I have never heard the don't play and charge at the same time thing.

Maybe a PS1 emulator. If you want games buy a Galaxy S II. Or a tegra 2 device.
