Man, what was really great about The Dark Side of the Moon Tour was that it was just those four guys, plus Dick Parry and backing vocalists. They didn't need any other session musicians to augment their playing, like in the future tours. DSOTM is simple music, yet so complex at the same time.
Everything layered into itself. The Wall was more of a show, a literal rock opera, than it was a prog. rock album. Animals had so many layers it was ridiculous. I think Wish You Were Here is the only other album that even comes close to being completely playable with no outside help.
