nothing compared to what you guys shoot, been trying some night photography but my camera maxes at 4 secs exposure and the ISO going past 200 makes so much noise its ridiculous

    Edited:

also any tips for how I could get a photo like that without the landscape being terribly underexposed?

I think that's a nice looking pic, even with the underexposed ground.

For a better exposed ground either shoot in RAW and bring up the lighting on the darker parts using fill light and then balancing out with contrast or then make a HDR pic. Judging by what you told about your camera, RAW is out of the question so your best bet would probably be HDR. Section 8 in this thread gives you the basics of it and Google can show you more. Just remember to not overdo it.

Thanks. They cost me a price. I got a tropical sickness down there and I've been puking 9-10 times a day.
However I feel better now so back to editing the rest of my photos.

I did some festive recycling! :D

While munching my way through chocolates during Christmas, I picked up the remains of a Quality street wrapper and had an idea, here it is:

Cheap flash gel by Wickerman123, on Flickr

Using only some Sellotape, paper and quality street wrappers you can make a cheap and easy flash gel. Flash gels are cheap anyway but I noticed it was one thing missing from my arsenal.

All you have to do is get 2 bits of paper, cut them to size, do the appropriate folding as seen above and layer up 2-3 wrappers between the paper, and Sellotape everything up.

And there we have it, some festive recycling.

Shit weather and a complete inspirational-drain has left me wanting nothing to do with photos, though going through some portfolio selection stuff I decided to re-work something from the summer.

I went for that kind of deeper black look you get with fp100c and other instants.

In other news, I have 4 days and 3 hours to come up with 20 pictures for this port and it isn't easy.

please tell me you didn't pay $90 for that
they have those on ebay for like $30 with free shipping and an adapter. Also try out the 35mm f1.7 Fujian lens, it produces some really great effects. The CCTV lenses are mostly for portraits as well since the lenses don't fully cover the sensor and they produce that swirly bokeh effect

Going to an abandoned paint mixing and shipping facility tomorrow. Apparently it had to be cleaned up by the EPA in the 90s because they discovered hundreds of barrels of chemicals there.
It's safe to go in because of how much work they put into cleaning the place up. It's pretty much gutted.

Also, it will be the first real "urbex" that a friend of mine (who happens to be an incredibly pretty girl) has done. So I hope to get comfortable enough to shoot some nice photos of her. We'll see how that turns out.
