So, is it going to be like Research & Development style puzzles?
So, is it going to be like Research & Development style puzzles?
Kinda.
We're actually going to have many kind of puzzles.
Looks amazing. I'll be one of the first to play it as soon as it releases ! I love this type of mods.
If you need any sound/music/voice, just ask me.
This is awesome! But I do hope that the player has at least something, like a map or a flashlight. Otherwise it feel look a bit dull. (maybe)
Some world sounds.
Give us some samples.
The Portal 2 SDK is not released so you can't make mods for it, actually. Well I thought so.
Those screenshots look amazing. Which brings me to my question, where do you get such sexy textures and what do you use to edit them (like normals, bumpmap etc.)?
Most of the textures are either handmade or from CGtextures.com.
Hopefully we'll have something worth of update tomorrow.
UPDATE!
(coming more in few minutes)

It's a shame how good Portal 2's engine is for outdoor environments but only seeing one outdoor scene in the game.
(that was prerendered too!)
Now Jukka has posted some new images too.
Will this be in the form of a series of maps which we access using the console?
Idea may be good but execution surely will be bad.
No.
This will be normal mod, accessable via steam.

And it'll use the Portal 2 engine?
How is that even possible? I though you couldn't make actual mods using the newer Source iterations.
We have managed to fix many technical problems and find to alternative ways.
Edited:
There's manual way to make mod.
Do you plan to have this mod free/pay to download on steam, or just on moddb.
(I don't know how mods are chosen to be put on steam so if needed rate me dumb)
Is the Engineer the only character who'll appear in the mod?
Some scripted characters in the office.
And maybe some too in the last map.
They don't choose if a mod gets put on Steamworks, and very few singleplayer HL2 mods get Steamworks.
Mostly multiplayer ones get on it.
Has ANY single player mod gotten on it?
Dear esther. It has become comercial.
Minerva has.

It has a page on Steam but it links to the website vv
I think Combine Destiny also, though I'm not gonna check.
There are some other SP ones too.
Edited:
But for getting ours to steam, would require us to contact valve first.
I don't think that counts.
Wow, just wow. Looking at the new screenshots. Your team is doing an AMAZING job so far, it almost looks nothing like Portal 2, due to the use of custom textures. Will this mod be sort of an overhall? What I mean is alot of custom things, such as the HUD and elements of gameplay (think of like Underhell, how you can read messages and move through a book.) Please tell me this will come out in like Q1 or Q2 of next year, I've seen so many great mods die off and never get finished! Once again, good luck, I'm sure the FP community would be more than happy to help you guys out if you need it!
Will any HL2 textures be used in this at any point?
Or will it be a complete total conversion, with absolutely no HL2 textures used?
It looks like there's HL2 textures on those trees.
Just a little.
looks really good, I hope it gets finished
So by exploration does that mean it's a non-linear experience? Are we left to explore the world through our own volition? I've always wanted a game like that, but haven't really ever found any. Dear Esther was close, but I felt that the level design needed a major improvement (which gives me hope for the remake.) Just exploring an interesting environment is a fun idea to me.
Screenshots look beautiful. My interest is piqued.
The guy who made Dear Esther is making a remake and its going commercial. (If i recall correctly, he's going to make it a free steam release)

It has funding from INDIE FUND.
So it might cost something.
Also, they got P2 sourcecode (we want it too).
Loving the small details and the custom models.
Tomorrow we might post new update.
You will be able to explore areas with freedom up to a point.
I wish everyone was using the Portal 2 engine :(
It might do some good to change the title to "Portal 2 total conversion". Most people are just going to sigh and look on.
