I don't think it should look like real world geography, Minecraft and the real world aren't supposed to be 1:1 anyways. Besides, if it looked like the real world it would be pretty boring, with this generator it looks realistic enough while providing enough interesting features. I don't think they should make any more major tweaks, at least for a while.

One thing I do think though is that deserts could be larger, I mean they're bigger now but I would love for them to be absolutely huge. Maybe thats just me. Same goes for snow biomes but they appear to be missing in this prerelease.

Adding hunger has definitely made it harder to play, i'm constantly worrying about finding pigs or growing wheat.

Once you get watermelon, you never have to worry about anything ever again.

Watermelons are awesome, they're easy to grow and last forever.

If it was more like the real world, exploration would definitely be more rewarding, but we'd probably need faster methods of transportation.

They just replenish so little hunger. Just 1 hunger per melon slice. I feel like it's easier to just explore mineshafts and get bread half the time.

Is it just me or are ghasts really easy to kill now? I just killed one with a single arrow.

I feel Minecraft has come a lot closer to being complete. Hunger feels necessary. More food options help make it feel more natural too since we finally get meat from (almost) everything we kill. Leather has become more readily available so now I feel the need to make leather armor more often. Lighting looks beautiful though still needs some work. For instance I don't like how the torches start off white and then go yellow/redish in distance and fade back out. I feel they should always be yellow/red.
I just wish that trees didn't mystically float in the air. I really want a terraria wood chopping system. It just feels silly.

Dyes should be able to be used on torches to make colored torches.

Yeah, the nether has became my personal playground and/or shooting range ever since the bow and arrow got more powerful. I'm pretty much getting my main source of food there harassing the zombie pigmen.
Once you get to the point where you can access the nether, you'll never starve again. Unless you suck at fighting the zombie pigmen.

Something I've started doing lately for some reason: There's a hole or gap and you don't know what's in there? Say "Leave it to fate," and jump. Just did this and ended up in a small dungeon that had flooded.
I'm surprised Fate hasn't killed me yet.

A skeleton accidentally hit an enderman with an arrow. The enderman proceeded to chase the skeleton and kill it.

Yeah, the new bow mechanics and the other additions to fighting have made fighting/hunting mobs really easy. Ghasts used to put the fear of god into me, now I fight 2 or 3 at time without a problem.

I know that strongholds are going to be made so that they appear uncommonly but in infinite number(instead of just one or three) in 1.9, but any super uncommon thing like that could really use some hints placed around the map to bring you to them. Like a chest in a cave giving you a map that leads to an area near it. They also need to have main surface entrances, if they don't already, so that I don't end up digging straight into the currently nonexistant boss chamber.

Fucking christ... I just got lost in a mineshaft for almost two hours. I thought I couldn't possibly get lost in one since they were organized. This was my first time exploring one, so I really didn't know what to expect...
Didn't keep my torches lined up, just put them all over the place. Then... Yeah. Lost. Completely.
In the end I got out with 90 iron ore, 23 string (almost all from spiders I had to kill), 14 lapis lazuli, 14 gold ore, 6 iron ingots, and 6 diamonds.
But, as a friend said after I told him the story:

I found a little glitch. If you walk on the bottom of the ocean and carry a bucket you can get a breath of air every time you pick up water. Great for building underwater houses.
er, maybe you could always do this. eh, I don't care. Still cool.

Yeah man, shit gets rough. Especially when you end up in one that leads to another. Also, cave spiders are pure terrible.

A fly agaric doesn't kill you in real life. However, it's closer relatives, the Amanita phalloides (death cap) and the Amanita ocreata (destroying angel) will probably kill you if you eat them.

Yeah, don't anything pure white, or anything you don't know what it is. Fly agaric can be eaten, it just needs to be boiled thoroughly, so it loses its poison, and sadly, it's Psychoactive properties.

Speaking about framerates...
I get 60-100 fps in all low settings while 30-10 fps on max.
Nvidia geforce 8500 gt 1gb
2gb ram.
windows xp 32 bit.
Run's fine for me.
And hell, the card's pretty low-end compared to now.
EDIT:
Turning on advanced opengl lagged the entire game.
Anyway, i just discovered a abandoned village just a few mins ago and changed my time to night.
seen the endermen.
holy fuck, that scared me shitless when i hidden myself in one of the houses. looked out the window and directly popped out of nowhere infront was the endermen. (which made a zombie growl which made it worse wearing a maxed volume headphones.)
Then i quit the game.
