I don't think those really need an elaborate texture. They look fine just... white like that
okay, took the back thing off, lightened up the main texture, added square brushing to the body, and manually added AO so i could lighten the effect of it - am i missing anything else?(idk why i like that smiley so much hehe)

Would it be possible to make the scope magnify like the Bazaar Bargain's and make the gold parts reflective? Otherwise it looks good.
The main body's brushstrokes are a bit too obvious and too few in amount. Try very small variances in color (if the base body is in gray, try a slightly darker blue toned color) and lightly brush all across the body, and keep the heavier strokes around corners or place of the weapon that deserve attention (in this case, all of your attention-drawing areas are modeled, so try not to get too excessive with the brushes). Also, get some wear and tear around the opening of the barrel, as that is where it would most likely see the most wear. Look at the default rocket launcher and see how its paint strokes work, and how the wear is on it.
You would be the best if you weren't known as the modder who makes the best stuff and then never releases it.

Optimize it and for a start not use turbo smooth.

I don't think this was needed. After it is a ghost head so the clipping doesn't make it that bad.

phonged the brass (used vmt from bazaar bargain so i need to tweak that a bit so its not so.. in your face but that can be done later) - check.
tried the zoom lens and figured out that it wont work until i/if i do a custom viewmodel and so therefore is just transparent for now - check.
made former brush strokes less obvious/more transparent through opacity adjustments in their respective layers and made new layers with slightly blue brush strokes - check?
hopefully you can see it, but am i getting closer to where i should be? i know what you mean by in game launcher but i almost feel like the closest i was to achieving that was on teh old model using chamfer cornered squares in paint.net - i think im missing out on something basic that im just not grasping![]()

Its way too high poly. It looks like you took the default mask, removed the filter, turbosmoothed it and changed the mouth part. It really shouldn't be more than a couple hundred triangles.
