If they couldn't somehow decipher the meaning of the protests with their basic reading comprehension, then there is a much larger problem here.

No, Mega and Uber are right. No one that I've seen here yet is proRape. The ones that aren't riding lankists dick have a valid point about how the general mass would perceive a demonstration like this and completely miss the issue at hand. Its been pages of bickering and miss communications.

So you didn't read the sixth fucking line of the article then

the line that explains exactly the fuck what is happening

With the amount of posts you have read and responded to in this thread, you could have just fucking read the first quarter of the goddamn article. The message is right fucking there. The only miscommunication is between the part of your brain that thinks stupid shit and the part of your brain that says "no dont say this stupid shit."

FYI the sixth line of the article says exactly why they are doing these protests.

If you didn't make it that far: their message isn't the problem, your illiteracy is.

The first SlutWalk protestors took to the streets of Toronto on April 3, roughly two months after Toronto Police officer Michael Sanguinetti suggested “women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized”.
How does that illustrate the idea that the majority of rape is going unreported or unpunished?

i'm aware, but the majority of people are either a bit dumb and skim through news articles or get their news from their friends who can't read properly for some reason

i don't know why this is that way but that's mostly what i've seen so far

i'm not saying i'm against the protests or something, i'm just saying that people should be less ADD when reading the news

    or something like that

No, you dont read. I keep repeating myself, I get why they are doing it. How they are getting across is what the issue was. Good job.

Uhh, the police blamed the victim.

The protest is about not blaming the victim.

That's their problem. You don't criticize the rape victims because people on Facepunch have no idea how to read an article before commenting on it.

And like I said, the way the protests are being reported on fails to get that idea across. They're putting far too much emphasis on that one statement to the point where it looks like the only thing the protest is trying to accomplish is disprove the validity of that one statement.

The purpose of SlutWalk, Solis said, is to invigorate the debate that will bring sexual respect for women and usher in the understanding that sex sells because it is a basic human experience that should be embraced, not abused.

18-year-old FSU student, SlutWalk Tampa speaker and rape survivor Teagan Alexander said she goes to clubs, likes to go out and likes to look pretty.

Alexander explained she was a victim of sexual assault roughly 10 months before she posted her YouTube video entitled “My Dress is NOT A yes!” on June 22. “Just because I like to wear a tight black dress, it’s not an invitation to have sex with me,” Alexander said in the video.

cool. let's literally not have any creativity in anything anywhere in the name of marginally increasing the "understandability" of something. let's just assume that everyone in the country is a child incapable of understanding anything except the most basic, laconically expressed concepts

General mass, like the people on the street?

“I love that fact that people are talking about things like this that have never talked about this before. I love that somebody may have saw it in the newspaper or on TV, and they went home and said at dinner, ‘Oh my God, did you hear about that SlutWalk? And they’re talking about it.”
Their message is pretty clear and people are going home to talk about it. How is what they are doing ineffective?

Okay, now how does your average person get from "raping a woman because she dresses like a slut isn't justifiable" to "the majority of rapist go unpunished and the majority of rape victims fail to report the crime to police"?

The latter is common knowledge. The prior is in direct response to the police blaming the victim, creating an environment in which rape victims do not report the crime because they feel as though they did something wrong.

Nearly every single line in the article disproves your dumb opinion.

"Don't tell me how to dress. Tell them not to rape,"
The first SlutWalk protestors took to the streets of Toronto on April 3, roughly two months after Toronto Police officer Michael Sanguinetti suggested “women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized”.

The officer’s thoughts on the issue ignited a campaign by a group of women in Toronto to effort reclamation of the word slut from being a derogatory term.
The purpose of SlutWalk, Solis said, is to invigorate the debate that will bring sexual respect for women and usher in the understanding that sex sells because it is a basic human experience that should be embraced, not abused.
some women might wear tight jeans with a red thong sticking out, but just because they dress provocatively, or lack full body clothing, does't mean men are granted a free pass to sexually assault them.
"How can you actually stand there and blame the girl for such an atrocious act?"

What the fuck is unclear about the protests?

Why should they be forced to have someone stick his dick in them because they like a certain style of clothing? You can't imagine how degrading that would be and would ruin one of the best experiences of people's lives. What the fuck.
