What drivers have people been using for the Radeon HD Series? I have a 6970 and I see ATI has Windows 8 preview drivers on their website. In a recent Windows update, it mucked up CCC so it would only show 3 options in the CCC, and completely removing all ATI software + driver and re-installing the Windows 7 driver and CCC did nothing to help fix it. I ended up re-installing Windows 8 and I haven't installed any drivers for my videocard yet.
I use the latest Windows 7 drivers.
Thanks, I will install it when I get home. This time around I am making sure Windows will not automatically update hardware drivers because I think that's what screwed me up.
Well I just finished isntalling the CCC for Windows 7, and this is what it looks like:
I have no options for my videocard. I am using HDMI to connect to my monitor and right now I have these awful black borders because I can't use CCC to upscale the picture. Any ideas?
Is this on a laptop?
This is on my desktop. I have a 6970
The Vision Control Center is different from CCC. I've only seen that on laptops. Did you install the right package/installer?
This is where I downloaded it from http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloa...n_win7-64.aspx
No idea why it's doing that then :\
Thanks for trying anyways!
Edited:
I am going to try the 11.12 drivers, because I think my problem started after 12.1 was released yesterday.
You know is there such a thing as a Windows compatibility wiki or database? That'd be a good place to put this.
Edited:
The Vision control center is a rebranded CCC that appears if you have an AMD CPU with an AMD GPU.
Nitro Family: works, but NoCD is required (StarForce 3.3 gives internal error 1275).
True crime NYC glitches on it.
Does Battlefield 3, Metro 2033, and Skyrim work ?
I've tried some games with my Windows 8 tablet, I'm also reporting whether it is tablet friendly (If it works with only Touch input and nothing else)

-All steam games have been hyperlinked to their steam store pages. This took roughly half an hour to do, so I hope you appreciate it.
Just don't use Windows 8 and all compatibility problems are solved.
Anyone know if Fallout New Vegas is workable?

Anyone tested Battlefield 3? I'm going to buy it and I just upgraded to windows 8 (Silly me, I should have created a partition) and, obviously, I want to know if it will work...
It should work, unless it has some sort of advanced Anti-hack that wont run in Windows 8, that verifies the OS's version number, rather than actual compatibility. (Case in Point: Rusty Hearts works, but the anti-cheat/hack utility is not designed for 8, so thus, the game doesn't work.)

I had trouble with OpenGL mode being forced to software mode. Have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200. Using default Win8 Drivers since AMD driver installs don't detect this model for some reason.
Borderlands works now
Battlefield 3 works perfectly, I actually got around 10fps boost compared to 7.

Does window 8 gives any perfomance boost and i stable enough to install as main os?
It is considerably quicker than 7, stability is a bit iffy though.
oh nice.. but i mean is it stable enough for me to keep playing my games normally? with out expecting any errors crashes etc
I think that a lot of the stability issues are hardware related. I haven't had a single crash yet, but some people report a bazillion. Premature drivers and stuff, I guess. You might have a load of problems, and you might have none. I recommend dual-booting.
Campaign missions may crash when you chuck a frag grenade (happened to me, didn't happen on windows 7)
Kinda obvious at this point, but I'm just gonna go ahead and confirm that CS:GO works ~just fine~ on nearly every combination of graphics settings.

Gonna try Borderlands out for myself even though the OP says it doesn't work
If any of these were mentioned in the thread but not added to the OP, I apologize for not reading. I just want to contribute.
BTW, Bulletstorm does work on steam.
Gonna be painful adding in the next batch of games to the list. I should make a way to automate it somehow... Like adding tags to words to automatically replace them with the proper BB Code.
