So The Question is "Is Time Real?"
First off lets define time - Noun: The indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole.
Sounds simple enough right? But Is it really?
Now lets think about this, Time as we generally know it today is relative, i feel that that's safe to say. But what if time is just something we as people made?
Here is an Abstract from a document i found (Most of the citation is lost but that's besides the point) that defends that point
Me, i think time is just something that we created, and that it truly is not real. So the Question is what do you think?

Disclaimer - i don't claim to be a expert on this topic, i just watched a show about it and it sparked my curiosity (it was "Through The Wormhole: Is Time Real" for those who would like to watch it, its very informative for both sides - http://science.discovery.com/videos/...es-time-exist/) so i thought i would start a post about it

I don't feel this is even worth contemplating. If time is somehow doesn't exist, it doesn't really affect us anyway.

Time have been used since people started to communicate with eachother. Maybe not like
"Oh dear, the dinosaurs come here at 12 o clock"
They came up with different ways of saying what the clock was, or well, if it was dawn or dusk, night or day.

Time is duration, we measure that and factor Time in many equations. Time is relative.

Time is a measurement of the movement of atoms. If the atoms didn't move there would be no time, so really are atoms real?, because at the end of the day its just how we perceive the frequencies of the cosmos.

You should try to distinguish science from philosophy. This is a philosophical question, because it tries to convince the viewer that time is man-made with arguments rather than using scientific methods. Of course, until you can come up with a scientific method that can prove it, this remains a purely philosophical question.

Time as a value is man-made. Time as a constant is not.
As in, the progression of things is ongoing, we've labelled it as "time" to make it easier to explain our universe.
It's like math is something we've created, but in nature many things follow mathematical rules (Such as plant leaves following Fibonacci or something like that somewhere)

Time to me is just a term. Can't do much with it except measure and waste it.

Like distance, it's obviously real but relative, so we've come up with measurements that we can understand.

I can walk three steps in one direction just as well as I can remember typing the first bit of this sentence. It's observable even without a concept of measurement.

Time is real in the sense that it applies in physics and special relativity, you can see this through phenomena such as time dilation, it's not just something we made up.

As far as being a fathomable substance such as water or a radio wave, no. Time on a universal scale can be thought of as a theoretical plane through which existence passes along at a steady rate, with no outside influences, and which can be observed only through the occurrence of events.
This plane probably doesn't exist in any sort of actual form.

I like to think of time as a checkpoint system.
It's only relative when you need it to be.
Time tells me when my haircut appointment is. It serves me as a checkpoint.
Time is the structure of our lives. We base all we do in this world because of time.

The question is really easy to ask, but even if you get told the right answer most people wouldn't even understand it.

It isn't measuring the movement of atoms, it is a measure of progress of the change in state of atoms. If all atoms were not moving, "time" as we know it would still exist. The movement of atoms is simply kinematics and really isn't all that related to the concept of time in this context.

Does the fact that we have a concept of time make our lives feel shorter?
I was envying my cat earlier today, because it doesn't know about seconds,
days or even years. To top that off, cats are not even aware of their own impending death.

Spacetime is the strongest evidence we have that time is real. The notion of spacetime is that time and space are intrinsically linked as part of a big manifold that makes up the universe. The question of whether time is real is no more uncertain than whether space is real. We can measure the difference between the rates at which time ticks between reference frames, which tells us that all reference frames have certain, measurable notions of time. Plenty of physical laws not only depend on time, but on the direction of time, like wave function collapse.

How blissful
Johnnymo's description just made me realize that a clock is literally measuring time with space. Each second is a certain amount is millimeters long.
So you can effectively judge time, by using space as a template. Hence the clock.

You are not far off. Lots of relativity textbooks describe clocks as the analog of a ruler for time-like intervals.
