I think the brewing stands are already like Bunsen burners, and besides, don't they have to be connected to a fuel source?

Be only as accurate and precise as source material allows. Did anyone say it was a distributed attack? DoS is the most accurate definition until further evidence is received.

Is there anyway to find out who keeps doing it? Maybe it was that guy that griefed the server not to long ago.

Someone is currently DDoSing the guy who hosts us (nothing to do with our lil server) with a SYN flood, which basically wipes out all TCP connections going in and out of the machine.
Since minecraft uses TCP because Notch is a poopyhead, no more minecraft.
He has very kindly given me access to another un-ddosed (atm) machine over in America, so we'll be moving to there very soon.
    Sorry for the delay :c

I believe he tried to use UDP but ended up attempting to implement TCP over UDP and concluded it was too slow

In other words, it's because Notch hasn't a clue of how networking works

Notch is a terrible programmer all round to be honest. He's only managed to get away with it because he's a creative genius with very sound business sense and great productivity.
If anyone was wondering incidentally; the BSoDs were apparently some daemon on the host which objected spectacularly to losing it's ability to talk.
The DDoS was going unnoticed because the skid is only buying short scattered bursts on whatever botnet he's got access to, meaning that it'd stopped by the time the server came back online. Fun Fun.

When it stops being attacked, will we move back to the old server? American servers tend to be laggy for those of us who live in Europe.

As a European I'm not particularly thrilled about the move myself, but since as far as I know there are far more US players than EU ones. It seems fairer to cater to their needs than the 3-4 of us.

I don't have regular full world backups local or otherwise. The combined filesize of all the worlds is 700mb compressed, and that's not a particularly fun filesize to do networky things with.

Send them to me, I'll host the backups on my 8 GB of dropbox space.

If I could easily send them to you, I could just as easily send them to my webhost which has an 'unlimited' storage plan.
It's not just that compressing the data and then sending it needs to be done by hand, there is also the problem that the server has to be off in order for a world to be backed up. Minecraft filesystem locks all worlds it knows about, even if they are unloaded (via multiverse or whatever).
I have to shut the server down every time I took a backup, and leave it down for however long it takes to compress all the files, which is never particularly short.
    tl;dr: cba.

because I re-used a terrain.png from a previous texture pack I was working on. We'll get round to changing it.

Couldn't they stay buckets? They're pretty simple things, it's not as if buckets are obsolete today. I guess if anything, they could be like glass storage volumes or something.
Also, do you plan on changing gold, iron, and diamond armor?
Also, is the pack updated on the link you posted last page?

No, Saza's joined so we've made a joint dropbox folder thing, and the updated one's there. And of course we plan on changing armours, we've done so already- but not for gold. Still wanting ideas for that one.
