Ghhg, ToME 4 has like the ugliest graphics in roguelikes. IMO, of course, but ghhg.

I like it. It's not the super clean pixel sprites like Crawl (which I consider to be the best Roguelike in every way) but it's quite nice, especially if your resolutions allows you to turn tile size to 64x64.
    Opinions though.

Had an awesome game with Felid Transmuter. I was just converting dead bodies to Potion Of Confusion, evaporated (one of my favorite spells in the game) potions of confusions and killed confused enemies with my claws.
After encountering a group of orcs with a priest in lead I have tried to use my new spell "Ice Form" and got killed by miscasting the spell
After that I respawned (No idea how and why) and got killed by an orc. Weird enough, this death is not written down in my morgue

    [release]
    Liberty Crime Squad Genesis

A modification to a famous Bay12 game Liberal Crime Squad. Adds some really good features, like the Armsdealer, Cyborgs and new weapons
    Download
    Bay12Thread
    [/release]
    Full list of differences:
    Code:
    - New NPC: after 2015 year augmented / after 2030 year cyborgs (expensive suits, pistol/computer/science skill, great stats; conservative; think of Deus Ex).
    - New NPC - detective/state investigator/private investigator/rogue detective (name and locations are based on privacy and corporate laws).
    - At C+ Labor and Human Rights corporate servants (called slaves) wear bondage gear and are younger.
    - Tweaks to mutant animals' names (no more pink elephants ).
    - Guard dogs are K-9.

    - Armor now properly conceals/does not conceal weapons (normal clothing conceals pistols; coats conceal SMG and sawn-off shotguns; trenchcoats conceal bigger guns).
    - Donkey and elephant suits are now easier and cheaper to make (they were harder to make than deathsquad uniform...).
    - New uniform - chameleon jumpsuit. It's the best for stealth but really hard to make.
    - LCS uniform; inappropriate anywhere but with some stealth abilities, face coverage and armor value.
    - Added coats (bums and gangsters sometimes wear those): they conceal sawn-off shotguns and UZI.
    - Expensive suits/dresses are less profitable

    - New activity: training at firing range ($120 a day to train a pistol, a shotgun, a rifle or a SMG skill).
    - Any car theft nets a tiny amount of juice based on the difficulty to find the car.

    - New weapon (brass knuckles), inspired by Funk's weapon expansion mod.
    - Added P90 SMG (5.7 magazine, 50 bullets).
    - Added P90 to SWAT teams (and cops with C+ gun laws).
    - Renamed a knife to a switchlade, added throwing knives and a combat knife (Funk, LCS Crazy Ideas list).
    - Added a sawn-off shotgun (Funk's idea).
    - Removed generic semipistols.
    - Added Glock 18 (burst shot), M9 Beretta, Colt M1911 (civilian) and USP pistols.
    - Assigned proper pistols to appropriate groups (civilians, cops, gangsters, agents).
    - Pistols and assault rifles use different magazines (9mm pistol mag, .45 pistol mag, 7.62 rifle mag, 5.56 rifle mag, 9mm SMG mag, 5.7 SMG mag).
    - Changed SMG magazine size (32 bullets for 9mm SMG, 50 for 5.7 SMG).
    - Tweaked clip sizes.
    - New SMG type: UZI. Worse damage and AP than MP5, but 5 attacks and easier to hit multiple times (no MP5 acc. bonus though).
    - Gang members and bouncers get UZI instead of MP5.

    - Re-opened the Armsdealer (Ammunation on the outskirts of the town). Different location names and inventory for different gun laws.
    - Gang members sell their inventory at any gun laws, but their gun prices are high and gun types are limited (but they sell any ammo you need).
    - Pawnshop has less gun types to sell. Go to Ammunation/Black Market to get those.
    - Pawnshop no longer sells ammo; but ammo from ammunation or gang members.
    - You can buy switchblades, throwing knives and brass knuckles in pawnshops, you can also buy combat knives in Ammunation.

    - Sharp weapons get a critical chance.

    - Many new ads for newspapers.

    - "Women's Rights" renamed to "Gender Equality".

There are multiple branches of elona that are being worked on, since it's not being worked on by Noa (the guy who made it originally) any longer.

This is probably one of the most recently updated ones.
There are a bunch of others Here
Is the game itself translated? If the sites are anything to go by it probably isn't.

Elona is also my favorite roguelike, it's just so good.

This thread be fallin off the front pages. Also, I SWEAR I made a post here a few days ago, but it didn't show up for some reason.

I was saying I want to keep playing DCSS, but I got gifted a bunch of games on Steam for Xmas, and I'd feel guilty sitting here playing a free little roguelike when I have things like Serious Sam 3 and Portal 2 to play

+I have a really hard time with any kind of mage in DCSS. The spells just about make me equal to a beefy barbarian like a minotaur gladiator, but then I run out of mana and start starving to death. I feel like it'd be a way better option to start as a warrior and then eventually shift into magic, but then I'd have to give up my good armor in order to actually have a chance to cast anything. Just can't find myself a good balance.

Well the lifetime license is a bit too expensive but the major version is nice.

Finally finished my cabin! It took a month and two weeks...

I'm having an awesome run in Crawl. I'm a human death knight (so I worship Yredelemnul) and I'm currently running through the orcish mines, turning every corpse into a zombie. To make things better, when I was in the middle of a particularly tough fight, my god granted some minions to me. So I'm basically storming the mines with a little undead army.

And thankfully I have a ton of food to counteract all the use of that ability. Plus a ring of sustenance. And a +6 +1 hand axe with flame powers. It's been a really fucking lucky round for equipment, basically. When I die, I'll post a screenshot of all the awesome equipment I have.

Damn, right after this I ran into a HUGE pack of orcs, with an orc knight and several warriors and wizards. I've never killed an orc knight before, so I got the fuck out of those mines.

    Edited:

Well, here's how I finally died.

Nessos is definitely not to be fucked with. Not that escape was really an option, since he was so much faster, and shot me with some kind of ridiculous fire arrows or something that killed me in about 3 shots.

    And my final inventory

This was an interesting run. The game threw all kinds of amazing equipment at me, and my god was really helpful, but at the same time, the game threw a ton of super-difficult enemies at me. I've made it through several floors of the orcish mines and several floors of the lair in the past with no problems, but this time the monsters were unusually strong. I was fighting (or, more often, running from) shit like iron golems, trolls, hill giants, red devils, and metal gargoyles. The guy that killed me also seems way too powerful for such a low level.

That was my second-highest score, at 6732

Demonspawn is probably my favorite race in StoneSoup because of the overall randomness
For example now I got the ability which would spawn random demons around me

    Stone Soup hates me
I had an Earth Mage Demonspawn character
On Level 2 I have acquired the best possible skill combination: Move through walls and Passive Magic Mapping
After that I have encountered a ghost of my previous character and ran away. Twenty seconds later get assaulted by 20 orcs and an orc shaman

    RIP

    MageGuild is so terribly underrated
I have started playing it now, and it's one of the best roguelikes I have ever played. The crafting system is so simple it's amazing (Potion of inverse+Potion of life = potion of dead; Potion of life + wolf hair = wolf minion; Potion of death + Crystal Ball = Crystal ball that detects undead)

    Awesome, a roguelike thread.
I'm in the process of trying out Dungeon Crawl right now, seems pretty awesome so far.

Also could someone give me tips on how not to die In ToME? Particularly in the caves of Kor'pul or whatever.
I went through 3 levels of that dungeon slashing everything up with my Cornac Bulwark, then I went around the corner and a skeleton named The Shade 2-hits me for 300 damage.

    what the fuck

Xom is a pretty entertaining god in Crawl. He gave me scales (AC +1), but also blurred my vision and made my body "slowly deteriorate" (whatever that means).

Also gives... Interesting gifts. First he gave me a -5 hat that gives +2 to strength and +4 to intelligence. Later on, he gave me 7 +4 javelins of returning. Apparently they have no downside.

    Edited:

Man, he really likes mutating my body. I now have iridescent scales (AC +4) in addition to my colourless scales. He also increased my speed and gave me the ability to control teleportations. The increased armor's really convenient, since I'm playing a troll and can't wear much more than a robe.

    Edited:

Ha ha, oh wow, I just ran into Edmund, and was briefly worried, when this shit happened:

Xom turned him into an orange rat. That's fuckin hilarious

    Edited:

And then I was ice beast

I tried out MageGuild, and it makes me feel kinda neurotic. There are so many ways to combine items, I'm always afraid that if I craft one thing, something better will come along in a few seconds. At the same time, I feel compelled to try stupid combinations because it's important that I know what everything does.

I love the fact that you can turn into any enemy monster easily
The only thing I dislike is that you don't regenerate health

Yes, I know. The ones I tested give the option to play in English.

I just had my best run ever in Crawl as a mountain dwarf hunter. Most of it was due to this sword I inexplicably found on level 4 of the dungeon

I got through most of the orcish mines, most of the lair, and all but the very end of the snake pit with that. Xom almost immediately fucked me over on the last level of the snake pit, when he teleported me into the middle of a SWARM of all kinds of nagas. There had to be at least 50 in that one room, but by some miracle, and a lot of scrolls of blinking, I escaped with 1 HP and retreated to the previous floor to heal.

I'm getting the hang of things now though. I could have gone a lot farther if I didn't get overconfident when fighting a smaller group of nagas. Anyway, I died with 43,460 points. FAR better than my previous record of 8,572 as a minotaur gladiator.

    Edited:

A (kind of) great thing about that sword is that it would automatically trigger berserk-ness about 50% of the time when I'd attack an enemy. It was good that I started as a crossbow user, because I could take out most lone enemies from a distance, then just switch to the sword to go berserk whenever I encountered a crowd.

All right, I'm on what is possibly a better run than before, but I'm stuck here.

I know my next move will make or break this run, so I wanted to post a screenshot here and hopefully attract the attention of an expert who can tell me how to kill or escape from this dragon successfully. Is there any guaranteed way I can do it with my current equipment?

You could drink a magic potion but you haven't IDd it yet unfortunately.

You can either try to whack it, it appears to have around 18 HP right now, and get killed by it.
I myself would try to blink first, then use Trog regeneration, drink speed potion, then quaff the unIDd potions in hope that one of them is Magic Potion or Heal Wounds Potion (unless you know for sure of of them is not) and get killed by dragons breath before you find the useful one.
Alternatively, the same but use Teleport Scroll instead of trying to kill the dragon, and get killed one turn before it actually teleports you.

EDIT: I'm not pessimistic, I just play lots of Crawl.

EDIT2: Tell us how it went, when you're done.

What about hitting it with the fire wand? Would that do a lot of damage to it since it's an ice dragon?

And why would a magic potion be the most useful thing there? Because of the amulet I'm wearing?

Potion of Heal Wounds would heal you for 24 HP on average and it would be most useful here but I assume that you have already IDd it, since you find it very early in the game, usually on D:1.
Magic Potions on the other hand are found a bit later and, again, I would assume that you haven't IDd one yet.
Magic Potion would restore 24 MP but since you only have 15 max MP you'd only get 15, and since you're wearing Amulet of Guardian Spirit your MP works the same way as your HP. Meaning that you take damage to MP instead of HP.

I don't recommend using Wand of Flame (it's not a Wand of Fire. Wand of Fire is more powerful.) It does 2d9 damage, meaning that if the dragon has 18 HP, as I have guess last post, you'd need a total roll of at least 12 to kill it (vulnerability gives 150% damage), which is less than 50% chance, not very good odds.

Another thing you might try, is to blink as far away from the dragon as possible, use the Fog scroll to break LOS from dragon to you, use the Invisibility potion, use the Trog regen, try to kill the dragon while being invisible and hope it misses you.

    Cult

A roguelike game which will eventually include
Customizable user-generated worlds replete with their own rich, unique procedurally generated histories
Procedurally generated races, creatures, spirits, and gods
Procedurally generated and identifiably unique languages
    Procedurally generated religions
The ability to join or found nations and religions
The ability to recruit and maintain both a traditional ‘party’ for small-scale exploration/battle and a larger army for wide-scale conflict (with situational restrictions on the uses of both)
Unique dungeons, dungeon guardians, and artifacts to explore and pillage
Construction of both small-scale and large-scale settlements according to play-style
Strong focus on main character customization and development
    Free-form, highly open-ended gameplay
Because the combination of these goals makes for an inarguably epic scope of gameplay, Cult is intended to be a long term project which will hope to one day combine all of the above aspects of play into a single gaming experience that will deliver an incredible amount of replayability and customization to the player.
    Blog
    Hello, folks.

I'm the developer of Cult. Saw this thread and I wanted to drop in and say hello, and thanks!

I just uploaded a new video - it's posted on the blog (http://cultrl.wordpress.com). I've been on a long coding hiatus caused by a busy RL schedule (i.e. working sixty-hour weeks), but that schedule has recently been cleared up somewhat and I'm starting back on things.
